I have had my sony ericsson w610imobile phone for about a year now. before this phone i had a w800i and before that a nokia. over the years i have swayed back and forth between nokia and sony ericsson and have come to the conclusion that the sony ericsson interface and style is more to my taste.
For starters with the w610i you have to admit it is a pretty aesthetically attractive phone. very slim and with that black and metallic orange colour scheme it is quite eye catching. the contrast of the black front with hints of orange on the buttons and logo with the all orange back cover looks really cool and was one of the reasons i decided on the phone in the first place. ok so i was won over by the looks but the phone delivered too.
it has a nice 2MP camera built in which takes reasonable quality photos and for a phone in this price range i think it is definately good enough. when combined with the photo light (which it has rather than a flash) you can get some really nice shots. the sony ericsson interface is really good. everything layed out simply on the main menu page with nice colourful logos which are pleasing to the eye. the functions are good with internet, games, Track ID etc. the track ID function being particularly cool. it can tell you the name of a song and artist by playing a few seconds of a song into the microphone. it is always good when you just cant remember the name of that song!
the mp3 player function is also pretty good. with a seperate memory stick slot you can get some quite high capacity memory sticks and thus store a good bit of music on this bad boy. the earphones plug into the charging port and the standard ones which come with the phone are of pretty good quality.
the battery life on this phone is also extremely good. i only charge once a week say and that is with my phone constantly switched on and often in use for calls. i am very impressed as with previous phones, especially nokia's i have had some really bad battery life.
anyway in conclusion, for a phone in this price bracket you really cant beat it. now i wish i hadnt smashed the screen on mine when it fell out of my pocket and i danced all over it! damn.
