Sony Ericsson has a knack of producing the coolest phones in my opinion, perhaps that's why Nokia has to change its style of products somewhat. My Phone came as a majestic red, it was dark in colour and when pointing it out in the sunshine, it seemed to let off some two tone colour. My next review is an another mobile phone, now ive already written about my new IPhone which was purchased a few months, back but this review is on the phone I had prior to my new purchase. I wanted a phone that was cheap, easy to use and had some basic features such as a camera, walkman and so forth. A friend of mine had recently bought a new Sony Ericsson phone, it seemed to be the perfect phone, I didn't have an ipod at the time, but placing music onto the phone was like an alternative. I actually looked for my phone online, I had heard that 3G was a good company to go with so having visited their website, (www.three.co.uk) I looked at all the Sony phones that were available in my price range. Having spent some time looking for an ideal phone, I caught my eye on the Sony Ericsson W660i. Now the phone comes in two colours, their was a coolish black and a majestic Red, for some reason the red one appealed to me more, because it just seemed out of the norm. So having picked my phone and my colour I decided to purchase a contract that best meets my needs. I wanted a combination of minutes and texts, as I used both on a frequent basis; however I didn't want too many as I was that obsessed with my phone. The phone itself was free as I was buying into a monthly contract, I decided to pick the £20 a month line rental, with which I would get 100 free texts and 600 anytime any network minutes. It seemed to be an ideal match for me, and so after placing my order I waited for it to arrive in the post. (Usually 3 working days).
Having being sent my phone, and finally arriving I was kind of anxious to open it; this was actually my first pay monthly contract as I was always normally on pay as you go. The phone, which comes in a standard box had all the features, a battery charger, the phone itself, a thick user manual which was never going to be used, a free voucher for music download. Before I talk about my experiences and how I found the phone, I feel it best to give you info about what the phone has features wise, and the specification and so on.

Sony Ericsson has a knack of producing the coolest phones in my opinion, perhaps that's why Nokia has to change its style of products somewhat. My Phone came as a majestic red, it was dark in colour and when pointing it out in the sunshine, it seemed to let off some two tone colour. The phone had the standard design buttons, the 3 logo as well as the Sony Ericsson logo. However, if you turn the phone around near the top of the phone, there seems to be a nice henna type design, which actually looks quite cool. The phone isn't that big and only ways about 93g, which I found to be a plus as I didn't want the phone sinking my pockets.
User Friendly:
The phone is actually quite easy to navigate around, it has the basic manual that comes with the phone, but I like to freestyle my approach, learn as you guy is my method. But the phone doesn't really cause any problems here, one you turn on the phone you have your basic features, obviously the first thing you want to do is log all you contact details onto the sim, now some cases you can just copy from sim to sim, however I decided to do it the long way and copy each number onto the phone one by one. The phones not as complexed as say the IPhone and so I guess it only takes a day to really get use to the style and feel of the phone.
Camera:
The phone has a 2.0 mega pixel camera attached to the back, and unlike the IPhone you can use it for both pictures and video recording. This was probably the feature I used most on the phone, going out with my friends I would take random pictures and movies every now and then. It's easy to switch to and from camera and movie mode. For instance when you turn the phone on, you click the middle command button, which takes you into a sub menu, their you have the option of choosing what you want to do, and on the middle left is the camera feature. Now from here you can click from left to right to change modes. Now of course you have the ability to zoom in and out of both modes and can change the options for night mode and so on. One feature you will come to no is, the photo feature was you can change the quality, make it look cartoon like an so on.
Walkman:
It wouldn't be a Sony phone without the walkman capability, and this phone seems to have it. The easy to use walkman, which comes with an installation disk, makes it easy to transfer music too and from the walkman, via your computer or laptop. I think I could store up to 45 songs on my phone, with additional songs with the memory card. The sound quality was brilliant, it was clear and loud, and wasn't fuzzy like other phones ive seen. It comes with a headphone set, but unfortunately for me they were uncomfortable and broke quickly.
My View:
Ill have to be honest I was at first in love with this phone, it was easy to navigate, had brilliant features, a brilliant camera and music player, and was just everything I expected of a phone. Unlike most phones, I didn't have a problem with it as first, the battery was good, phone never froze and I always seemed to pick up a decent reception for the first 6 months. However the phone for me was also annoying at times, the headphones were uncomfortable and broke easily, and being a text message mad person, I always found myself getting frustrated by the dictionary, that never seemed to pick up slang words. During the end time with my phone, I also noticed it had a tendency of freezing a lot, and the only way to restart would be to take the battery out and get it replaced. I even eventually had a problem with the battery, which had to be set back and replaced with a new one. I suppose this phone although with great features is one that is 50:50, perhaps my phone was the only one that started buggering up. However, at the end of the day, the price of the phone and the features they had were good. It's a phone that would suit a teenager, or anyone that loves their music, and although with my faults I would buy this phone again if it was offered for free.

Advantages: LOOKS GREAT AND IS A WALKMAN PHONE Disadvantages: SCREEN SCRATCHES EASILY
...This phone is one from Sony Ericsson walkman range. It comes with an M2 memory card which is 512 MB which will hold more than 470 tracks. If you want it to hold more songs 1GB or 2GB cards are easy to come by. You can also use songs that you have downloaded onto the phone as ring tones which is great! Advantages: Cheap, stylish and easy to use. Disadvantages: Unreliable and crap camera.
...is one area that the Sony Ericsson walkmans do excel. It is so easy to find your way round the menu that even a gran could be sufficient (if only at writing texts and calling) in about 20 minutes!!! Texting is not faffy and irritating like on some phones which is always a good thing and the layout of menus etc looks good. As well the phone itself is a nice size and the rose red version (which i have) is real pretty!!!
Walkman - Again really easy ... ...other people I've heard, all Sony Ericssons) they just don't last long. As I write this review I am waiting for 3 to pick up my phone for repair for the third time and I've only had it six months!!!! Now this is a major problem if you are on a contract for 18 months because I personally would like the phone to last that long. I'm paying for calls and text I can't use!!!!! The problem is, I think they have tried to cram too much into the phone and ...

Advantages: Excellent walkman feature and stunning design Disadvantages: Slightly difficult to text, camera isn't that good
...like most of the other sony cyber shots, photos are taken on landscape with a little button at the side. There are lots of options including some novelty frames (bunny, monkey and wanted poster etc) which are fun and also negative, sepia and black and white options. Advantages: Packed with features, good for those into music, nice video player Disadvantages: Keypad too small, camera could be better
...award winning music player from Sony Ericsson, coupled with the TrackID function, this is a real one for the audiophiles. It comes with earbuds that go right in your ear and produce excellent sound, while isolating outside noise at the same time. I personally enjoy the ease of use of the player and the nice features, like the playlist maker which is just a nice touch that makes the phone just that cut above the rest.
The call quality is fine, signal ... ...a week on standy and 2 days with heavy usage.
However, the thing i least like about the phone is the keypad. While the 3 rows at the bottom are safe from this, the top one isn't. While trying to text with the '1' and '3' keys, it is very easy to touch on the bottom of the ring of buttons above and is a huge nuisance when texting really quite fast.
Apart from this, the phone has a lot of features to offer. Just scan through the list and you will ...

Advantages: The size is small Disadvantages: Buttons are placed awkadly, Only on 3G
This phone is a simple Ericsson walkman phone which is ideal or people who do not need the extra features of the other Ericsson phones or the Nokia N series phones. In other words this is a phone for people who only want to talk to people, txt ppl and listen to music.
It also has a great look, the gold compliments the black nicely. However I find that all the navigation buttons on the phone are awkwardly positioned and it is very easy to press the ... ...also true for the number pad which at first did not fell the same as my previous Ericsson (W810i) and I am still not too comfortable with it after 6 months.
On the other hand the actual phone is very good in the palm and is small enough to snugly fit in the jeans pocket with room to spare.
Also unlike the W810i the W660i's screen got very easily scratched but the phone can be thrown about to an extent with everything in tact.
The BIGGEST downside ...

OVERALL OPINION
I think that this is a great mobile and if I didn't have mine (SonyEricssonw660i), then this would probably be my second choice. It has everything my boyfriend needs and he has had no problems with it whatsoever. The only thing that would make it any better is if the camera had more megapixels.
