The Sony Ericsson W850i was the first contract phone I owned. At the time it was the a top-of-the-range handset and impressed me from day one, standing head and shoulders above the Nokia's I had... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic walkman, easy to use, great screen and plenty of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Awkward control pad, poor internal memory, not 'tiny'

Introduction Reviewing a mobile phone is a difficult game because you have to tread a very fine line between assuming too little knowledge on the part of the reader and so going overboard with detail, and assuming too much knowledge and skimping on important issues, simply because they're obvious to you. Therefore I'm going to try and talk about the things that make this phone unique from other mobile phones, and where appropriate about features which are unique to Sony Ericsson (SE) phones which users of other brands may not have encountered before. So if you really want to know the exact ... more

5 Stars Buy a Phone...Get an MP3 Player Free!!! Review with images 30/06/2007

Advantages Advantages Brilliant features, great sound quality, takes a right beating and it's easy to use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Your pockets will buy stuff off the internet, camera isn't the best of the best.

I got this phone as part of my contract with Carphone Warehouse. Jonny's got the older version and has had Sony Erricsons before so I knew from him that Sony Erricson phones are a reliable brand. Something which is essential for me as I have had bad experiences with Motorola and LG phones in the past. The W850i is one of their walkman phones and so amongst other features it has a pretty good walkman. I'm a big on my music so getting this phone saved me from replacing my broken MP3 player, bargain!!! According to the Sony Ericsson website their Walkman phones have recieved numerous awards. The ... more

    Advantages Advantages Loads

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not really any, a bit big.

Following on from my horrendous experience with the Benq Siemens EL71 I was hoping that I was in for better luck with my next choice of phone. I decided that I was going to upgrade my contract and go 3G (so I could have decent net access on my laptop) and also get the phone I'd originally wanted - the Sony Ericsson W850i. Was this worth the buyout fee of my contract? Read on.... Basically what the SE W850i tries to be is a decent MP3 player combined with a mobile phone and something approaching a digital camera. Well it also has an attempt at being a video iPod too - strange but true. SE know ... more

Advantages Advantages Walkman feature, the 2 megapixel camera, ease to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive if not on contract, can scratch the screen easily

Sony Ericsson W850I I won this phone about 4 months ago at work. I gave it to my boyfriend but when he upgrades, I'm having the phone back. This phone is widely available on a contract, free on most tariffs but its quite price on Pay As You Go. Most new phones seem to be not available on PAYG or they are too expensive for my liking. Note for some people that are commenting on that I have no personal experience with this phone. Wrong, I work in a mobile phone shop. I deal with the phone on a regular basis as a demo phone, show people how it works and what it does and also I used it for 2 weeks ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent MP3 and radio facility, expandable memory, games work well.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Call quality a little quiet, no flash on camera.

Like any man, I love my technology. My shiny new Sony Ericsson W850i is my new toy and I can happily spend hours fiddling with it. After three years with my battered, war hardened Siemens SL55 I thought it was time for an upgrade but I was buggered if I was going to pay the £250 retail price for this. Step forward Vodafone who enthusiastically offered me the phone for free on an eighteen month contract. Of course as with all contracts you pay a hefty monthly sum but I find £12.50 per month for six months and £25 thereafter quite reasonable. Particularly as it includes 300 minutes and 500 texts ... more
