The Good Points: - Good network bandwith coverage. - 3G Coverage in selected areas. - Slim and lightweight. - long battery life compared to similar sized 3G phones. - Clear, bright and vibrant screen. - VERY easy to use and understand menu and settings system. - Predictive text feature that not only predicts the word you are typing, but once that word is complete, it will often try and predict the next word before you type it (the more you text, the more accurate the predictions become). - Adjust track volume without looking at the phone (by just feeling for, and flicking the volume switch up or down) ... or skip tracks by holding the volume button up or down - all with the phone keypad locked.
The Bad Points: - No light / flash with camera. - Camera has no focus (so no close-up shots possible). - Buttons are a bit akward to use if you have average or larger sized fingers. Is very easy to click the wrong button when typing a text message. - Walkman phone does not feature an FM radio like other models. - Cannot start / stop a track playing whilst the headset is plugged in without looking at the phone to unlock it and select "stop" (The W810i has a play/pause button on the side which works with the phone locked and the headset plugged in).
Well that's just my quick summary of the main points. Overall I still preferr to use my old W810i as it had the same camera, but with an LED light / flash, and also included the focus feature allowing much better pictures and good quality macro shots for those who want to get really close up. The W880i's camera is good in bright, sunny locations, but not very good when it comes to lit rooms when dark outside as the pictue often comes out blurry.
As for the walkman software, this phone is just as good as the older W810i with a few extra features - like if you have one of the pre-set graphical themes setup with the main backdrop as the theme backdrop - track info such as Artist, Track and Album will be shown on the phones front screen when the walkman player is minimised.
The other features of the phone are what you'd expect from Sony Ericsson - good quality, a good amount of features, and very easy to use.
OVERALL VERDICT: A good phone for those interested in a walkman phone and who are not interested in having a good camera and want 3G capabilities - this is the phone for you.
However, if you fancy an equally good, easy to use walkman phone with a good camera, that you can change tracks - start and stop tracks, etc in your pocket without removing the phone from your pocket - go for the W810i ... it may be an older phone, without 3G and about twice as thick, but overall it's better by far ;)
