Prologue Sony is a guarantee for a powerfull music and amazing camera quality. Who can deny it..? As we know that prefix “W” in Sony Ericsson product name means that phone included to Walkman series. While prefix “C” is Cybershot mobile phone, which a mobile phone with amazing camera quality. So you have to choose one, which features do you prefer the most? Perfect music quality, or complete camera features..? How about both of them in one mobile phone..? It will be very cool..Well, your pray has been answered. Sony Ericsson launch a W902 mobile phone with a high-quality music features (of course!!) and amazing camera features, plus great internet ability. All of them are packaged in an one nice mobile phone. Lets take a look...
Chapter 1 Love at the first sight. Thats exactly how i felt when i saw W902. Candy bar conventional style with black color, (Sony Ericsson called it Volcano Black. Also available in two other colors, Wine Red and Earth Green. But surely, Volcano Black is the coolest one. Trust me!). A snake-skin pattern like in the the middle of the backside, between the speaker and the camera lens, makes a unique interesting point for me. The dimension is about 110.0 x 49.0 x 11.7 mm ( 4.3 x 1.9 x 0.5 inch ) while the weight is around 99.8 grams or equal to 3.5 oz. Easy to hold. In the left side you’ll find the multi-use port for charger
connector, headset, and data cable. In the other side you can see the volume buttons upside and the camera button in the down side. While in the middle you will find play, next, and previous multimedia buttons. Yes, the buttons is concentrated in the right side of the phone. The Walkman button located at the top of the phone, which is also used for “Shake Control” feature. The screen display is particularly perfect. The screen display is TFT 2,2 inches diagonal with 240x320 pixel resolution, can display up to 262.144 colors with high quality. The keypad is designed greatly. Easy to press, and somehow can reflect the elegance of high-end product without leaves the simplicity aspect. The 4-way navigate button comes with a rounded shape, just like the other buttons beside it. Sony Ericsson provides a pair of soft keys, menu button, phone/call button, end call button, and cancel button. There also one more button in the middle of the navigate-keys, which can be used as a select button. In the top corner at the right, there is a secondary camera for Video Call feature. In the back side, the Primary camera lens is lies in the upper side. There is also the flashlight located beside the camera. Overall, the design is great. Elegant with a high sense of art and simplicity. Perfect.
Chapter 2 W902 uses a very easy-to-use User Interface. The menu’s icons shown up in the Sony ericsson typical grid, with an excellent display quality and animations. W902 comes with amount number of features and applications. Say it, a special features of W series like 3.0 Generation of music player, Sense Me (Make a playlist based on the tempos to represent your feeling at the time), Shake Control (Change the playing songs or change the volume by holding the Walkman button and move it to the left, right, forward or backward) Track ID, PlayNow, and a good Walkman equalizer. The speaker is particularly good, but for maximum sound quality, use the HPM-77 premium headset provided. One of the best if i may say so. The company kindly provides the 5 MegaPixel camera as a primary camera. Not just that, Sony Ericsson attachs it with a lot of features to ensure the maximum ability of the camera. Name it, flash, Autofocus, geotagging (Cell ID) and BestPic (take 9 pictures one after another quickly, and you can pick which one will you prefer to save). You can also capture a 30 fps video with the camera. FM Radio with RDS is also provided. There are another useful features and applications that can be found in this medium class phone like Google Maps support, PictBridge, Photo fix, Bluetooth support A2DP, Office applications, flight mode, and a lot more. There is one unique application named Walk Mate. With this, we can count and track the amount of our step to reach the minimum suggested steps a day. Quite useful.
This product support GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 2100. So you can imagine how powerfull the internet performance is. Yes, it is amazing. W902 provides Email, WAP 1.2.1, WAP 2.0 xHTML, NetFront (HTML Browser), Web feed and Web Browser to ensure this. HSDPA support ensures the the 3rd generation internet with wide bandwith always provide everyday, but don’t forget that this is depends on the operator’s service and network support. But overall performance is great. You can also do a video streaming, upload your videos and pictures to your blog with ease.. You can also use W902 as a modem via the PC Suite provided by the company. Don’t worry the PC Suite is pretty easy to use.Chapter 3 The internal memory is about 25 MBs capacity. It can be extended with a Memory stick Micro (M2) up to 8 GBs. Thankfully, the 8 GBs memory has already included in the sale package. So are the data cable, charger, headset (once again, one of the best sound quality), manual, guarantee card, and CD driver (bundle package maybe different each country).
A lot of features means high battery consumption. Fortunately, the company gives 930 mAh Lithium Polymer battery that can provide enough energy for around two days. But for me (I love music) it would be great if the company can provide a higer capacity for longer usage, say it 1050 mAh or even 1200 mAh. It would be really great.

Epilogue Overall, Sony Ericsson W902 Walkman Phone is really excellent. The combinations between powerfull music features and amazing camera quality plus exciting Internet ability makes this phone is a highly recommended mobile phone so far. And don’t forget about the standard and additional useful applications that provided. Thats why the price is justified by the quality. Oh yes, Sony Ericsson W902 is the most expensive among all the Walkman phone series today. But it deserve it. Really deserve it.
