comes out firing from both barrells. From first glance you can see that this is a handset that is focused on features. The form of the handset is, it has to be said, relatively basic. The W960i measures about the same as it's predecessor, the W950i. It has however ditched the handwriting recognition system that marked the W950i out from other walkman handsets. Instead the W960i uses touch sensitive buttons below the screen, which can be used to navigate through your tracks with ease. In terms of specifications, the W960i is the heavyweight of the walkman family. A whopping 8GB hard drive has been included to handle your music needs which puts the W960i right into the same category as the iPhone. In addition to this 128MB of RAM and 256 MB of flash memory has also been included. Unlike Apple's heavyweight, the Sony Ericsson W960i has full 3G compatibility and an inbuilt 3.2 megapixel camera. Multimedia features on the Sony Ericsson W960i are further bolstered by the addition of and FM radio with RDS and track ID music recognition. Track Id has appeared on most of the Walkman mobile phones and it is always a novel and welcome feature. If you hear a song you don't know, track ID will tell you what it is! All things considered, the W960i offers far more than any other Walkman phone that has previously been released. If you can ignore the lack of a touchscreen interface, which seems to be in fashion since the iPhone was first announced, then this could be the phone for you. predecessors, and it should be, it's got 8 GB of onboard memory!! It also has a huge screen with crystal clear display for watching quality TV input or pod casts
With its elegant black glossy coating and 2.6" touch screen, it's the perfect device to play around with multimedia in style! You can store up to 8,000 tracks in the W960i's 8 GB memory, and in different formats, including MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, Real audio8 and WMA. The phone even has a special button to allow you to access its music functions directly. Keeping entertainment in mind, the W960i also allows you to store videos in MPD4, 3GP, SDP, Real 8 and WMV and streaming files. This phone's not just an entertainment device, though it's a mini office as well! It includes a push e-mail system, and you can access high bandwidth internet (3G), receive RSS feeds and transfer files thanks to the USB cable provided. What's more, you can take photos on the spot thanks to its 3.2-megapixel sensor; listen to FM radio, and record vocal memos on its Dictaphone function. Everything you need to work and relax while you're on the move is in the W960i!

Sony Ericsson W960i
One of the newest Sony Ericsson cell phones on the market, a great promise, but what's inside for real - can SE live up to its promise, can't they or do they give even more?
I've upgraded to W960i after years of using W800i and a brief Nokia E51 experience. Quick summary
The phone takes about a minute to start and you can select among switching on the phone or a flight mode - safe to use the device on board or ... ...useful. Software
Sony Ericsson PC Suite on the CD allows you to synchronize phone with your computer, create backups and transfer files. The file transfer can however be also used in simple USB mass storage device mode, where the speed is amazing - 6 to 8MB per second!! That allows you to transfer your music library into the phone quite quickly, especially since there's 8GB of flash memory to fill, plus 160MB phone/media memory. When making ...

Advantages: Brilliant media player, great camera, PDA and MS office support, infinitely expandable with UIQ Disadvantages: poor battery life if too many applications used, lack of HSDPA
...primary digital camera, and because Sony have been making cameras for years, the lenses are all top-quality optics (Sony's economy of scale means they're so cheap). I am constantly disappointed by Nokia's camera/lens offerings (my girlfriend's Nokia 6300's 2 megapixel camera is an abomination, seemingly barely worthy of status as VGA)
The Walkman media player is STUNNING! It's a massive leap on Walkman player in the W810, and the clunky player on ... ...twice a week. In spite of these minor oversights, Sony has created a demon here.
In conclusion, this is a really great phone that somehow bridges the gap between media manager, phone, office PDA and camera with ease. A brilliant release Sony, keep up the good work! ...

Advantages: has large memory capacity for music with bright picture. Disadvantages: music runs down battery and price too high.
Sony Erickson has shown how good they are in making good camera and Walkman phones. To me, I prefer them to Nokia in making good Walkman phones. It has good and nice black shining colour with good features. With nice earpiece that produces good quality sound system. The battery last long even when playing music but I am still looking up to conducting a battery test.
It has nice and fantastic pictures. In my own case, I prefer Sony Eriksson camera ... ...the games.
The Sony Eriksson is capable of navigating and browsing media files with a soft touch.
The touch screen is quite easy to use and can to input text through the stylus which is the new features and some thing to enjoy.
In my own case, normally run my batteries down do to the mp3 player and the game when tired with my psp and my ps2 console. Thanks to the Eriksson efficient phone charger because most of the time, it is either in use or ...

Advantages: 8GB Internal Memory, Touch Screen, 3G & Stylish Design Disadvantages: NO Infrared port, Sound average
The Sony Ericsson W960i is about the same size as there other Cyber-Shot range but is more stylish in design compared to there previous Walkman series.
- 109 x 55 x 16 mm
- 119 grams
The phone has no card slot as seen in previous models but has a impressive 8GB of internal memory, so why would you want a card slot? 8GB internal memory is big enough for internal standards let alone for external cards.
The W960i is a 3G phone and has many features ... ...wasn't that impressed with the Sony Ericsson W960i. The issues which concerned me were firstly the sound. Being a walkman phone as it is marketed you would expect the sound quality to be decent but unfortunately it is merely average. There are also issues with the touch screen its not as effective as it should be compared to its competition the iPhone, it has problems with the design. The W960i's competition Nokia's N-Series would be a better choice ...

Advantages: Good camera, good internal memory, attractive phone, good software options Disadvantages: Not able to expand memory, touchscreen not very responsive.
...always been a fan of Sony Ericsson mobile phones, and also of the W Series Walkman phones. I currently own a SE P1, which is SE's other main Symbian phone currently on the market.
The W960 is obviously primarily a music phone. The focus being on a in-built music player. The player gives a good range of options, including graphic equalizer, and the sound quality is good. The phone itself is quite attractive, but does appear quite bulky compared to ... ...is a great phone, with a lot of features. However, the few points that let it down such as the lack of option to expand the memory, and lack of sensitivity on the touchscreen, means that I woudl be more inclined the recommend the Sony Ericsson P1i to people. ...
