A Sony Ericsson Z520i of course!
Well I have been without a phone for quite a while now, and have been making do sharing hubby's, but then he came home and presented me with this one..... I have had a it a few weeks so think it's about time I had my say...
I immediately liked the look of this phone, it's compact (83 x 46 x 23 mm) so I could slip it into my jeans pocket when out and about without a handbag.
When ... ...a spare snap on cover in pink, so I immediately changed it over. This was very easily done, without the need for instructions.
I put the phone on to charge whilst I set about reading the instructions, and boy were there a lot of them, I seemed to get manuals for everything...anyway after a cuppa and a read through, I decided nothing was too difficult and abandoned the rest of the instructions!!

When I unpacked it, it was white, but mine came with a spare snap on cover in pink, so I immediately changed it over. This was very easily done, without the need for instructions. I put the phone on to charge whilst I set about reading the instructions, and boy were there a lot of them, I seemed to get manuals for everything...anyway after a cuppa and a read through, I decided nothing was too difficult and abandoned the rest of the instructions!!
The phone itself is very easy to use, with a clear colour screen, (128 x 160 pixel) the menu screen was easy to navigate around. Having nice bold icons, so you can easily recognise each function. The function you first use the most is the phone settings, as this is where you find all your sound settings, ringtones, volume, keystroke noises message alerts, themes, screensavers etc. It has quite a lot of already programmed polyphonic tones installed to choose from. It is an mp3 player aswell you get a lot of those to choose from too. I found downloadable ringtones for this model quite easily, and as I mentioned earlier, it is an mp3 player, so you can add music tracks in the form of mp3 files to your phone, either downloading directly from a site, or using a data cable or bluetooth device (bought separately).
The contacts menu or phonebook is an absolute dodddle to use, entering the info is really easy and can be done without reading the instructions,it is accessed from the main menu button and has all the usual options, different ringtones, picture contacts etc
The text messaging menu is easily accessible for this phone and you can either access it via your main menu screen or create a shortcut to it from your main scroll button on the phone's keypad. (you can create up to 4 shortcuts here, easily done through the phone sttings menu, so one button accesses your most used functions - invaluable!)
This is a camera phone, so it would be silly of me not to mention this function! The camera is also simple to use on this phone, with the camera open, you can get to it through the main menu then camera option, from here you can set your particular preferences, there are 3 picture size options, large 640 x 480, medium 320 x 240, and small 160 x 120, and obviously the smaller the picture size the more your phones memory will store. There are 4 options for shoot mode, normal, panorama, frames or burst (pictures taken in quick succession) There are also a few different options, like black and white, sepia or colour modes, nightime mode, self timer and picture quality. The zoom is 4x, but I am not too impressed with this as the pics I have taken so far in zoom mode, have come out very blurry, not sure if this is my fault or the phone's! The downside to the camera function, which I must mention, as it is really disappointing for me, is that you can use the camera when the phone is closed..... great, yeah? Noooo, the capture button is located on the side of the phone, and everytime my phone has been in my pocket or bag, I notice it has taken many pictures by itself . I then have to sit and delete them again. The camera button on the side of the phone must be really really sensitive. It is driving me crazy!!! A simple lock function would have cured this, but as of yet I can find no such option!
I am finding the battery life to be good, despite receiving several bluetooth vidoes, and music files, it does not seem to run the battery down very much, infact I just put it on to charge overnight every couple of days.
The reception is very clear, no interference or breaking up, even in remote areas of the lake district!! The wap finction of this phone is excellent and very easy to use, the setting are already preset, so no complicated set up required.
The only functions I have not really got the hang of yet is the emailing. I did have a couple of quick goes, but nothing has ever arrived in my inbox, so I am guessing I did not do it correctly.
One last thing to mention is the external colour screen.... this has a clock, so you can see the time at a glance of the phone, also if you press the side scroll button up when the phone is closed you get your phone status,(date profile make and model, remaining battery life and memory remaining) and press the scroll down, you get any appointments you have for the day (providing you have programmed them into your organizer function)
It also has plenty of other functions, such as games, and a vidoe and music mixing programme, organizer, alarm etc, but as I have not used them much, I feel unable to comment!
All in all a tidy little phone, bursting with functions and features. I think it is fantastic value for money - only let down by the annoying camera button to the sideand the fact you do not get a data cable as part of the bundle, so if you want to download your pics to your pc, you have to buy a data cable or a bluetooth dongle separately.
Advantages: Lots of features Disadvantages: Not a high quality camera or a lot of storage space
...are a part of all sony ericsson phones (I think...if not all then most) and basically, are your backgrounds, icons, borders etc. for all the digital display on your phone. The phone comes with quite a few of these already, and you can share them with other sony ericsson phones (via messaging or bluetooth) and I think you can download them too. They're really useful because they make your phone more suited to you and they look better.
* REMOVABLE ... ...some reason, but I think they are really good! You can choose from a range of colours including orange, yellow, black, teal (this phone came with white and pink) or you can even design your own on a website I found! This again, makes your phone unique and means you can colour co-ordinate your outfit or show your favourite thing, like a band or celebrity for example.

I am a Sony Ericsson lover, this being my 4th (4/9 phones) Sony Ericsson so far. I really love the clam and the covers because I like to personalise my phone, plus it has all the features I need (Alarm, Calendar, Notes, Calculator) and the camera is my first so I don't really have anything to compare it too. The zoom is rubbish though unless you're in Burst mode! The memory was the only thing I was disappointed with as I can only hold 3 average size ... ...Ericsson content I can!). The battery lasts quite a while, I usually charge it once a week and I play music and with the camera a lot! My positive points: - MP3 Player

So why did I choose this one in particular? Well, I liked the colour! I chose the one with the pink/white changable covers! Im quite girlie so this suited me! It is very simple to use, and you can customize your name too! Complete with camera and video recording, the z520i is good for capturing those special moments! With a 1.3 megapixel camera, I have 'snapped' many a good pic! Though you have to watch, as the quality is sometimes a bit crackly! The length of video recording is unlimited! k520i plays MP3s! ...catologue and decided upon this Sony Ericsson Z520i which was priced at £109.
I have a friend who has this phone and she found it wasy to use and when i received this phone it took me a little while to get used to it. The Sony Ericsson Z520i is a small phone which can sit comfortably in your pocket if you don't need to carry a bag and when i received this phone it had a white front which i changed it straight to pink.
With this phone you have a ... ...phone whilst driving.
This Sony Ericsson Z520i has bold icons which are easy to use and has a colour screen the phone has an mp3 player and there are a few to choose from and you can download mp3 music to your phone.
The functions on this phone are easy to use once you get used to them as i have only been used to the easiness of the old nokia phones. To use the text messages and to call friends and family are basic but when yo go into some of the ...

If a cool clamshell with every possible customizing option is what you want, the Z520i is your phone. You can change the front and back covers, and have any combination of ringtones, images and light effects play when a call comes in.
