Sony Ericsson Z530i
In August 2006 I decided that it was time to change and update my existing mobile phone contract. I saw this phone and immediately wanted it and based the decision on which contract to get around the phone.
I choose an O2 18 month contract which gave me a few hundred minutes and texts included in the bundle for £12.50 per month.
The phone is reasonably easy to use, the manual is straight forward to read although some information is left out and you are told to refer to internet pages for more detail. Which I think is a little cheeky!
The looks of the phone are pretty cool and due to the chunky design the phone would suit both sexes. The phone covers can be changed but I have found the availability to be some what limited - even on the internet.
The video camera is ok but not brilliant and the camera is some what disappointing especially compared to my boyfriends new phone (Samsung P300)
Where this phone really starts to shine is with its music functions. Music can be loaded on to the phone by using a number of methods. I have bought a blue tooth USB device that plugs into my computer so that I can send music straight to my phone from my computer and vice versa. You can choose to set ring tones, message tones and alarm tones from the music that you have. Which is great fun!
I haven't had any major problems with this phone although it does 'freeze' occasionally. Sometimes the phone will freeze on the start up screen when I am attempting to turn it on and then I am unable to do anything including turn it off!
Some reviews that I have read on this phone don't like the fish scale style buttons of this phone but I consider them to be a style feature and a number of friends have commented on how much they like the buttons. The buttons really aren't hard to use, even with false nails on!
The phone memory storage is a little limited especially when you want to store a number of music tracks on there. I bought an additional memory chip for about £25 which simply slides into the phone underneath the battery cover. The additional chip gives me 512mb which is ample for most users.
The face warping feature is a lot of fun and gets many laughs you can then set the warped faces of friends and family to show when they ring which is sure to bring a smile to your face!!!!
Games are good and also highly addictive!
I am not a mobile phone guru but all in all not a bad phone, although there are a few little snagging points. This phone replaced an old Samsung model and sometimes I wish I had bought another Samsung. Oh well.
