I got this phone just a few days ago, having upgraded from a K750i. Was tempted by the W800i when that first came out, but really didn't like the colour, which is why I went for the W810i as soon as it was available!
Design First of all, the phone looks super-stylish and surprisingly "unisex". The silver navigation button in the centre has replaced the somewhat problematic joystick of the W800i/K750i, whilst still being easy to use.
If you've had a W800i/K750i the menu system is a little different, basically the same folders just slightly shuffled/expanded upon.
Camera Have listed this as a disadvantage purely because there is no lens cover to the camera, which makes it liable to get scratched. Also with my K750i, to take a quick picture I only needed to open the cover and it went straight to the camera screen. With the W810i you need go to the camera option in the menu.
Aside from that, with a 2 megapixel camera the quality is spot on.
Battery Life Sony Ericsson handsets boast amazing battery life, with the W810i going to as much as 350 hours standby time from only 2 hours on charge.....amazing!! Even with the walkman, games or browsing active, you can still go a long way off one charge (have only charged it once since I bought it four days ago)
T9 Predictive Text I really like the predictive text function on Sony Ericsson handsets, and think that even if you are used to another manufacturers phones its pretty easy to get to grips with.
Functionality As I mentioned earlier, the menu system is a little different, file manager is split into where the items are stored......but other than that, it's pretty much he same as previous Sony Ericssons. If you've never had a SE before, it's really user-friendly, and I haven't had to read the manual for either phone, just plugged in and off!! The buttons are really easy to use and are a little further spaced out making it quick to knock up a quick text.
Walkman Function Wow, I love this!!! Am a big fan of Sony MP3's as it is, but this is just so convenient. How many times have I dashed out in the morning, remembering my phone, but forgetting my MP3 player? If you're a big music fan it's not going to replace your MP3 player (mine has about 5,000 tracks). However, it's great if you're packing light and don't want to carry a phone and an MP3, or if you are going on a short journey. Sound quality is great, you wouldn't think sound that good is coming out of a phone. Equalizer effects can be a little dodgy in places, with the Mega Bass sounding a little off in some tracks, but generally very, very good.
Other Miscellaneous Features: Memory- 512 MB memory stick is included, but memory can be expanded further Quad Band- Basically this handset can be used pretty much anywhere a network exists Size- Small and light, but feels comfortable in your hand
All in all, a great handset. Have recommended to loads of people since I got it, and so far 3 other people I know have bought one just from having a quick test of mine. It's easy to use, it looks great, it's got all the gadgets (except 3G) and it also makes and receives calls!!
