I've had my W810i for over 2 years now and even though I've had upgrades, I've always kept this phone instead (I do have the W850i as my homephone so check out that review!) Though it's looking a little worse for wear, the technology's still up to date and most of it still works fine. I'll go through most of the features but for the full product information - check out the sony ericsson website.
Firstly, it's sleek design means that you can put it in your trouser pocket and it doesn't look bizarre, plus it's fairly light compared to others. The screen is large but scratches easily - clarity's great at the beginning but mine got marked by just loose change which now slightly obscures the view. At first, I found the buttons slightly annoying because they're opposite to Nokia - which I was used to, consequently at the beginning sending a text was a major job. It didn't take long to get used to it though, but I still have a problem with the fact there are 3 buttons in one either side of the centr button and my clumsy fingers still press them - one's for the internet and one's for the walkman. It's not a major point but the newer phones have a much better design now.
It's a good phone in that I've never had a problem with reception on the orange network and messaging's good once you get used to it - it records all sent messages too which can clog up your memory but is very handy when you've got a memory like mine.
The walkman is a great feature- I don't use mine so much anymore but at the beginning I downloaded tons of tunes and the clarity was clear through the headphones which are supplied with it. The memory stick duo stores your tunes and photos which I found easy to use and trasfer information from my computer to phone and vice versa. Which brings me to the camera - this is the only part of this old phone that is starting to pack up - it's slightly unreliable and not as good as the newer phones but the 2.0 megapixel photos are good enough for phone snaps, just not to print out. The zoom's not great and video is fuzzy and poor sound quality.
Extra features I like are the torch, the bright screen to reveal the time which can be pressed even when the phone's locked, the alarm's which you can set with your own recordings and reminders - again very handy for people with a poor memory! The radio's got good sound but the headphones have to be plugged in as this is the aerial so no listening with your friends. It comes with some average games but it's easy to download better ones shoud you want to.
The battery is fantastic, even after all this time - it can last two weeks without being used and about 4 days with moderate use. I do like this phone which is why it's the one I take everywhere - I've dropped it, my dog's attempted to eat it and once it fell in the toilet (don't ask) but it keeps going which is a fairly good sign with modern technology.
It has bluetooth and infrared both handy for free infor transfer (getting tunes or photo's from friends is so easy). It's a very good phone so I'll be keeping it til it really gives up the ghost!
