Advantages: Quality of picture and sound, Looks and comprehensive remote control that can be used on your TV.
Disadvantages: The size, maybe a little bulky compared to todays latest models

...Being a serious Movie watcher and interested in the latest technology I was careful that I chose the right player to serve my purpose. I took a good few weeks looking at numerous magazines and the one that stood out for me was the Sony DVP S 525. The mere name of Sony suggests quality and quality is what i got. It delath with notorious problematic DVD discs like The Matrix and Enemy of the State with ease. Advantages: Small, lightweight, good sound quality
Disadvantages: No DSP sound equalisation

...Having lost my panasonic SJ-MJ90, i decided to purchase a new awia HX50. This model had only just hit the market over here in england when i got it, and i had difficulty obtaining it, although now they should be in good supply. The model itself is tiny and weighs next to nothing, the unit itself looks stylish with designer lines. It has 40 second anti-shock but i have found that it can still jump when running heavily. The sound quality of the player is second to non and much better than my panasonic mini-disc player, it has air-fit airphones which produce a clearer bass. The battery life is excellent, and with the standard battery is about 20hrs and with an extra AA battery is about 50hrs. The unit also come with a remote control which is the same as that used on the HX30, it is clear and easy to use and has all the functions... Read review
