Advantages: Record to hard drive, DVD drive, watch and record at the same time. Disadvantages: I needed to read the instruction manual!
Last weekend our old video-recorder started chewing tapes, so it was about time that we upgraded. We already had a DVD recorder, but had been using it in tandem with our video recorder through an aerial booster that split the signal between the two machines without loss of quality.
When it comes to such gadgets, being the sort of person that likes to see what I am buying, I went off to Comet's to see what was available. Being a Sony lover I was impressed by the RDR-HXD-890, one of the latest hard disk drive/DVD recorders from Sony's Range. When I got the machine home, I discovered that there were so many options on this machine that I had to ...
Advantages: Powerful, rugged design, discreet sattelites Disadvantages: Remote is very cluttered, tricky to operate initially.
I picked my one of these up at Argos about 2 years ago, and paid £350 for it. At the time, I was looking to ensure I had the best sound set up of all my mates, and this Pro-Logic 2 setup was exactly what I wanted. I paid my money, took it home, and started tinkering.

The remote control, I imagine, is capable of launching Beagle space probes, with it's 50+ buttons, each with up to three different sub-functions. What Sony have done here is to save money by using the same remote for several different products. Many of the features are redundant, and it's hard just to find volume up/down in a hurry.
If ...

So off I went to the O2 website, browsed through the phones with a tendency towards Nokia as they have always been good for me, but also with an open mind to Sony Ericsson due to my last 2 phones being Sony Ericsson. Eventually I decided on the W890i Walkman phone. My initial reasons being as simple as the phone was free, lightweight, slim and had a large memory.
Two long days later my new phone arrived?
Within seconds of arriving home from work I had my new phone out of the box, sim and battery safely in and the first switch on.
The phone loaded up all its info as normal when you first turn a phone on, I ...
