I have owned this set now for a couple months and I am very happy with this set. As with all new devices and gadgets, all of the functions can be a little confusing, but I do find this unit very easy to use.

With the HDMI passthrough ports on this, it is great for expanding the amount of HDMI connections you have. With plenty of other connections for things such as DVD players, sky boxes and PCs (sound only).

Each video input is linked to a sound input, so you can only use one pair for one thing, whether or not use use both parts of the pair. This is not a problem though, just something to be aware of. I have found the device has got plenty of connections; Currently I have a Xbox 360, DVD/HDD Recorder, PS2, and PC connected, with still room for a Sky HD box, and even possible a Bluray/HD DVD unit!

The sound quality of this unit is really clear and is plenty loud enough. If I really wanted to I could soon upset my neighbours but I have not manage to yet. I have watched several DVDs and HD DVDs (through the Xbox) and the surround sound has been brilliant, and there are more than enough amp settings to suit everyone. Although the number of these can be confusing, you can just switch the device to Auto and let it figure out itself what is best! Music and games from the media centre PC is also great with the stereo out put being change to surround sound (not true but good enough).

Two pitfalls with this unit , which I believe is reflect in the price are:
No built in DVD drive
No support for HD Sound

I do not think these are big issues as most people have plenty of things to play DVDs on, and as for the HD sound.......can anyone really tell the difference?! We are reaching an era where the technology specifications are out performing the human abilities, so my feeling is that this is more than adequate for the home user.

If you do not want floor standing speakers, then check out the HT-SS1100, which is the exact same AMP but with satelites. Personnally i think that the floor speakers look more stylish and can be wall mounted if required.
