This is the same camera that you see on the sony adverts. And I believe this new direct recording on to DVD is going to drastically change the way we view Camcorders. It really is stupidy easy to shoot and film, even for novices such as myself.
The 1.07 Megapixels Advanced HAD CCD enables unbelievably true image recording. I'm not sure whether on the images it is still 1.07Mp's as I have another sony camera with 7.2Mp and the image quality is identical. Also the 12x optical zoom offers all of the close-ups that you could imagine. However after taken the pictures there is a 480x digital zoom which allows you to people watch on you street beautifully!
Finally for this section the coloured view finder enables you to snap instantly and quickly what you require. Also its rotating system allows the vanity to show. As for the rotating view finder it is very helpful when using the self-timer for those family occasions.
~#What really caught my eye#~
I found that the stamina life on the battery was very good for a camera of its quality. I mean 5 hours of recording time and ample more on standby is really enough for all of the outtings I have ever been on.
It is also relatively small for a camera of its function. It has a height of 87mm, Width of 57mm and a Depth of 131mm. This is only slightly bigger than the DVDs that you have to put inside it.
Maybe best of all, just like on the adverts, you really can record and then get instant playback over any DVD player. You can also record onto CRW or CR discs which means you can just watch them through the computer or some DVD players. This means you don't always have to fork out on the Rewritable DVDs.
For a while now sony have teamed up with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar to supply their lenses. I have had numerous sony camera's and there clear shots and focusing abilities have never let me down yet.
The view finder is 2.7" which is easily big enough with 123200 pixels so you can instantly see quality pictures. The camera comes with shoulder strap and required cables for plugging into the computer and the T.V.
I have been lead to believe that the software in these packages changes from month to month. However the Imagemixer that I got with this camera enables me to edit as much and as often to a high standard whenever I like.
~#Cost and Usability#~
The Camera cost £570 at the time I purchased it however I am sure that now it is available cheaper. Even at this price though I would still thoroughly recommend this camera for the quailty shots it provides and the amazing footage that is available to record. Also it is extremely easy for all to use.
I was a novice to this new technology when I bought this camera and I was a bit sceptical to how it would work. However the camera and its manual are basically self explanitary and I have hardly had to look into the help section.
Overall I would have to recommend this camera to anyone slightly interested in purchasing a video camcorder as the images and recording quality are just so great. And most of all the efficency of being able to put the DVD straight into the DVD player enables great times to be reinacted instantly.
