My uncle owns this camera and having spent 3 months "teaching" him on its usage, i now feel qualified to comment.
Positives ------------
Picture quality is absolutely fantastic. Colours are sharp and focus is 9/10 quick and correctful of human error.
Sound quality also excellent which is remarkable given the size of the camera and apparent smallness of the audio recording device.
Speed of start up is relatively quick, useful for when you need to quickly get the camera recording to catch that perfect moment.
Zoom is good and perfectly adequate for any home/holiday usage.
Still image option, recording onto a memory stick, while not vital, is a nice addition to earlier models.
Negatives --------------
Menu system - it relies on the touch sensitive screen for a lot of functions which I found difficult and fiddly for a 27 year old, and my Uncle - in his 80's, didn't stand a chance.
Light touch - when finalising discs, or playing back recording, you need to have a light touch otherwise the machine is prone to jump. best to sit it down on a flat surface.
Connection cables - power cable especially, are quite awkward to get to and prove somewhat cumbersome.
