Sony Handycam DCR HC23

Advantages: Simple to use, lightweight, touch screen menu
Disadvantages: Battery life isn't too good, no remote control or carry case

...This is quite a basic camcorder which is really simple to use. The menu is all set out in the form of a touch screen on the LCD panel. I had absolutely no problems finding my way around the menus and changing the settings. If you prefer you can use the Easy Handycam operation were most of the camera settings are automatically adjusted. The camcorder has a range of different features such as an adjustable LCD which rotates 180 degrees, an adjustable viewfinder which can be used instead of the LCD screen and an adjustable grip belt. Connecting the camera to the computer couldn't have been simpler. I use Windows XP and I basically just connected the cables and the computer done the rest. I did notice that when the camcorder was connected to the computer the battery life didn't seem to last that long. I can't say... Read review

...I got my sony camera for my birthday and what a present it was with its camcorder featuring a 3 Megapixel CCD with Primary colour filter and the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens system to realise maximum light and colour sensitivity as well as precise capture of moving images. The Sony DCR-HC90E Handycam is always ready to record in true 16:9 widescreen.It really is a cracking camera, great to take on holiday or for those special occassions you want to remember... In conclusion a great product with many more advantages than disadvantages but at a very expensive £330 or so may stretch some budgets to the limit!... Read review

...I would like to say that having bought previos sony products that I was not entirely happy with this item. Although there are a lot of good features it is not really as good as products from other manufacturers in this price range. It is fairly easy to use but can be awkward, It is quite bulky compared to previous camcorders and for the price I don't feel value for money. On the plus side the recording quality is very good and the picture quality is as good as it gets. The sound quality is about average. Having said that the playback quality is excellent. I feel that on balance this product is overpriced. I would not recccomend this item.... Read review
