Advantages lightweight and compact
Disadvantages battery doesn't last
looked around for weeks and eventually decided that this little beauty would be the one to take home. Its compact design and handy docking/charging station were appealing. The on-screen menu is quite straight forward once you get to know your way around the system. The picture and sound quality are great and my standard battery lasts for well over an hour.
I use the super nightshot plus on this device quite a lot and it is very good, although the picture is sometimes "jerky" and the unit adjusts its auto focus on stationary objects quite often. Normal daylight filming is very sharp and the colours are well defined.
I did find the software difficult to load and operate and eventially started to use Ulead Version 8, which i find works well and produces my edited VCD/DVD's.
This is a very user friendly camcorderin general, and given a second chance, I would still come home with the HC42E. Its well-smart !

As you are new to ciao you may not have realised copying from other sources is not allowed. Don't worry we all make mistakes when new and your review can be removed from ciao and you can start again from scratch if you are not the original author.
