... My first camera was Sony, with nightshot plus, and i can't live without it. It shows images in complete darkness. And what's great, you can take still / photo pictures too with the nightvision on so no need for flash.
The sound is great, with Dolby it dosn't loose any sound at all. Great ... Read review
Advantages: Light weight, Small, Touch screen LCD, Good Zoom, Nightvision Disadvantages: Poor indoor filming, don't even attempt to use at night
Ok, so i decided to buy this camera, after my disapointment with another.
So, after charging it, i put the camera through some tests, to ensure i was happy, otherwise it was on its way back to the shop.
The Zoom is only 12x Optical and 800x Digital, but this is more than enough for everyday filming (unless you do a lot of long distance recording)
The LCD screen is big enough at 2.7", and its touch ... ...many buttons on the side of the camera.
The weight and size is awsome. Its tiny, and fits in your hand well. It feels so light, that it feels like a toy (well, an expensive Big Boy toy)
Memory, this was one of the MAIN features that turned me to getting this camera (as im sure the same reason for you) It has a 30gb Hard Drive, which is more than enough as my last camera was a Hi8, which only holds 60mins per tape. It ... more

It would take aprox 4-15 tapes (depedning on quality setting used) to fill this memory.
The ease of downloading your video's and Pictures onto your PC / laptop is soooo easy. I just plugged it into my laptop, installed the software, and simply Dragged and dropped the files from the camera, to my desktop, it couldn't be easier.
Nightvision, what an excellent feature. My first camera was Sony, with nightshot plus, and i can't live without it. It shows images in complete darkness. And what's great, you can take still / photo pictures too with the nightvision on so no need for flash.
The sound is great, with Dolby it dosn't loose any sound at all. Great once burned onto DVD and using on the surround sound.
Cables included are, Scart cable, AV cable, USB cable, Charger and a Docking station to sit the camera on.
Battery life isn't great at about 1.5hours, but you can buy a better one for around £50.
Focus is fantastic, and focus's well at long distance, and short.
Conclusion: Great value for money, but honestly, try before you buy. I went to a High street shop, tested it out, and then bought online for cheap. Good camera, and i am more than happy with it.
Advantages: Easy to use, DVD quality, 21 hours of recording time. Disadvantages: I think this camera don't have disadvantages for my use.
...quality is very good.

Manufacturer's product description
The DCR-SR50 is equipped with 30GB hard disk, which gives it recording times from 20 hours 50 minutes in Long Play mode (3 Mbps) to 10 hours 50 minutes in Standard Play (6Mbps). Even in the High Quality 9Mbps mode, the camera can record for a full 7 hours and 20 minutes. When you want to download content from the camera to a PC, the bundled Handycam Station comes into its own. The Station connects to the PC via USB 2.0, providing a high-speed downlink, which activates once the camcorder is seated in place. If desired, a single press of the One Touch DVD Burn button on the side of the station begins a completely automatic download-and-burn process. It really is that simple. To ensure your recordings are safe, the hard disk itself is multiply protected by the Sony HDD Smart Protection System. As you would expect, the first layer of defense against accident consists of specially designed physical shock absorbers, but there is much more. The 3G sensor can detect the sudden acceleration of a fall and instantly auto-park its heads, preventing them or the platters from being damaged by the impact. Better still, if you are filming at the time the camera will buffer the video stream until the drive is stable and operational again before writing the stored data to disk. Nothing will be lost.
