The stabilising technology is highly effective in minimising handshake quality deterioration and blurring and a Auto Slow Shutter works well to ensure improved clarity in low light.

Zoom features are very important in determining the important functionality of a camera and the 25 x optical zoom provides everything you need. The 2000X Digital Zoom is something you may not need and using it to the full will produce grainy and distorted images.
With a 40 GB internal Hard Drive, the method of file transfer is important. With a Handycam Station, this is done with ease . The Handy Cam Station also acts as a charger and a One Touch Disc Burn button records records 1 hours worth of video onto a DVD in about 20 minutes.

It is not all roses however, the main problem is that the DCR SR55E lacks style. This is not a camcorder that will turn heads and I would not like to beholding it if someone was standing next to me wanting to compare devises. It looks dates and lacks the smooth elegant feel that makes you feel comfortable holding it. It does not fit comfortably in the hand and for dome this will be a big problem.
The DCR SR55E is a good camera that delivers good quality movies at a good value price. However, when lined up against other cameras in the same price range this may not be my first choice as for me, looks do count.
Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: Less than attractive appearance
I have been using this product for a lengthy period of time, and have found it easy to use, despite my lack of technical experience. I was abl e to use all features with little difficulty, and feel that the price is suitable for the quality of both the product itself and the photos it priduces. It is a perfect size, and easy to carry around, therefore for holiday travellers, it is perfect for making photos to remember your holiday times.

I bought this Sony camcorder after having had a Sony mini dv camcorder for around a year. The reason I wanted the hard drive camcorder is because the mini dv one was very very hard to put onto tape. This camcorder is very easy to use and replay and since it's a hard disk camcorder, you can easily record the footage onto DVD. The footage is shown in clips which makes it very easy to find/delete what you are looking for. When you play back, all the ... ...The picture quality is absolutely fine, as is the sound. The only downside, I would say, is that there is no viewfinder so on a sunny day it's difficult to see the screen clearly.
I would definitely recommend this camcorder, if anything for it's ease of use and good quality. ...

Well, Sony Handycam DCR SR55E is a great camcorder when it comes to quality and user friendliness. Many times we buy cameras that are cheap but they don't deliver the quality that we are seeking. Therefore, I believe that the Sony Handycam DCR SR55E is perfect for it's value.
It is a high quality camcorder that can be used by a complete novice like me itself. I didn't have much knowledge about using a camcorder. In fact, all those technical words ... ...Buy this camera for the excellent image quality that is not available in any other camcorders.
