The photos are an excellent quality 3 mega pixels - and you could not tell the difference from those taken on my Sony P150 (which has 7 mega pixels) As the camcorder is so light and compact it is easy to carry it round and get it out to take some photos.

It has a viewfinder (handy in bright sun) or you can use the screen. The screen has zoom and a start/stop buttons as well. All the settings can be changed using the touch screen menu.
It has a nightlight feature for taking video or photos at night - very good if you want to shot you own version of the Blair witch project
I purchased an underwater kit at the same time. It was really easy to work the two together. You plug the camcorder into the underwater box thing and then you can operate the camcorder from the buttons on the underwater box thing - I was very worried taking my new toy in the sea for the first time but it worked well and I got some excellent video. The only draw back is that it does draw a lot on the battery - so you need to purchase a bigger battery than the one, which is included with the camcorder.
You can burn the video on to DVD- plug the camcorder into the computer and press the DVD burn button - easy
You can preview you video on the screen or using the cable provided plug into your TV to view.
You and create a sequence of video clips to play after each other.
I haven't had time to mastered editing my video clips so I can't comment of the software provided
Overall this is an excellent all round camcorder - easy to use - no expensive DVD's to buy - as you can record on to normal Blank DVDs Bad points - you need a DVD burner to burn on to DVD and if you use the underwater kit you will need to buy a bigger battery.
Advantages: Nice colours Disadvantages: Hard to edit footage after, insufficient software supplied, problems with 5.1 surroundsound
...ago I bought myself a SONY DCR-SR90E.
The internet and the seemingly knowledgeable salesman convinced me that it would be perfect for filming concerts, with good light sensitivity and wonderful sound.
Alas. It is all that, but it is a bit ahead of it's time. First thing I noticed after downloading the films is that WIndows Media Player, Quicktime and most others don't like surround-sound, the playback of the original roughs has massive interference. ... ...with the box, sure that Sony would have the solution there. But the Imagemixer software wouldn't show any thumbnail miniatures, so it was tough knowing what was wat. It had a button to convert from MPEG2/Dolby => normal stereo MPEG, but conversion is slow. And it will only convert one file at a time!!! So no chance of setting this slow system to work whilst we sleep, if we are to convert say 39 files, we will have to rise 39 times to select the next ...

...through dropping the camera, however, Sony have added a G sensor which knows when the Camera is falling, so the hard disk drive can protect itself to ensure that your videos are kept safe. This camera also has a lovely 2.7 inch touch screen, which makes going through menus a breeze. There are other features such as the external microphone, photo mode, and a great 120x digital zoom. I bought this when HD camcorders were first arriving onto the market. ...

Quick review of Sony Handycam DCR SR90E
this is a great little camcorder minus my one gripe and thats
that there is no proper onboard video title editor !!
the camera is a 3mp carl zeiss vario sonar lens with 120 digital zoom
the hard drive is 30 gb which really is more than adaquate for shooting home vids !!and pics!!
the 5.1 sound is a cool feature if you really want it tho but has to be added via the supplied software !!
the menu's are clear and the manual is precise
battery life is not bad but always better to get a better mah battery just in case you need it !!
the photo quality is great on this little cam
and the video quality is good but just under dvd quality so not brillient, but quite adequate in my opinion unless your a fussy git lol
the onboard lcd screen is a 2.7" touch screen which is a decent size but can be a little fidly !! ...
