ContraAverage Battery Life

The Sony DCR-TRV 355 (from now on called the 355 in this review) is a camcorder you can most certainly rely on for your home footage needs whatever the subject. Maybe you are looking at recording your loved animals, such as Fluffy the kitten, or your newly-born, Brooklyn, or maybe those steamy...

Contranone

This is one of the better Digital Camcorders on the market. It's light, durable and quite small. It has many great features such as: Night shot Night shot can enable you to see and record in the dark with great detail for up to 20 metres in pitch black areas. It is very good for recording nature...

ProLoads of features and buttons

Contraperhaps too many for most users

I'm on to my third camcorder in twelve years, and this is without question the best I've ever had. Apologies in advance, if you are not familiar with video and digital technology, the rest of this article will be pretty heavy going, suffice to say, and without wanting to be patronising, if you...

ProCompatability to play/edit previous Hi8 tapes

ContraBulky in terms of digital camcorders

Sony was my 1st choice to replace my previous camcorder that typically had started to go wrong just after my daughter was born. I wanted to go digital but didn't want to lose the option to play the hundreds and I mean hundreds of Hi8 tapes that I still haven't put onto VHS!! So I checked out the...

Pro20X Optical Zoom, Great Quality Pictures

ContraTo Little Accessories (No Professional Flash)

I have been using one for 3 months now and I love it very much. The Sony DCR-TRV355 Camcorder has a similar design to most Sony Camcorders. It fits nicely, comfortably and securely with one's hand. The camcorder comes with a very good lens and has 20X Optical Zoom. The pictures are very clear and...

ProGood picture quality compared to other camcorders

ContraBulky, slow startup

When I first came over in UK North, I realised that, to capture the beauty of the landscapes, a camera is not enough. That's when I started my research on the camcorders. For reasons unknown, I was somehow hell bent on buying a Sony Digital Camcorder. Maybe for the brand name associated with...

Excellent camera with very good results and has a good feel about it. Two problems though. The first is the Firewire or iLink port. I successfully transferred quite of lot of video to my computer using Firewire when suddenly it stopped working. I tried to connect on other machines but no luck. On the web I found I was not alone and many put the blame port burn out on "hot connecting". There is no mention of this in the manual and Sony has totally ignored pleas for help! The USB works OK but only with the provided software Image Transfer. The second is that Image Transfer software is not up to the same standard as the cam and the upgrade is a rip off.
