My normal video broke earlier this week (it is still in the repair shop) but I have discovered that if I became desperate I could record TV programs straight onto the camera using the AV in to watch at a later time. Which would be handy if I get that sad.

After visiting all the camera shops I came across looking for a camera to video my wedding, new daughter and easily transfer the pictures to a PC to e-mail to friends and relatives. I was told the combination of the functions I wanted was not possible. You can not get cameras in the UK with DV (Digital Video) in / serial connection for loading pictures on to the PC.

The 'Analogue in' was also very useful as I was able to play my fathers video of my wedding through the camera and capture some extra photos of the my wedding (I could not video/photo the ceremony as you can guess I was a little busy with "I do's")
This is a smashing camera for allowing relatives to see my daughter growing up when they are on the other side of the world, as the photos (.jpg) are small enough to make them easily email(able) with the bonus of videoing (first steps etc.) especially for someone how did not want to spend all there money on a pure stills camera.
The camera does also have a lot of nice digital video functions (like making it look like an old black and white film) that I think will never be used beyond the 'look what my camera can do' speech when showing people our new camera. The only other function I have found useful was the night shot which will film and capture photos in the total dark as I used it last night to take a photo of my daughter sleeping (this can be seen at http://cheeseslice.terrashare.com/jessica/33.jpg you can also see the picture quality using the memory stick, the photo is quarter the size of the original) This function would also have been very helpful if I had the camera when I was spotting platypus last year in the near pitch black.
