Advantages: the leader in DV products Disadvantages: a few but mainly to do with the tech not the product
...As requested by a few i will explain DV. The intials DV stand for Digital Vidoecassette. As with everything else on the market at the moment digital seems to be the way to go. There are a couple of problems, the tapes them selves are normally not too expensive retailing at 12 quid for a 90min tape. however the one shown is a 180 with ic chip. this in simple terms means that it is designed for longer recordings and has a memory chip to keep recordings intact. another problem is the hardware these tapes use. The sony PD150 camera retails at £2000 which means generally this format of recording is designed for professionals.
The problem with DV is that every one seems to be scared of the whole idea. This is stupid as DV is based around the idea of the normal tapes that you place into your camcoder everyday, with one big exception...

Advantages: Picture Disadvantages: Freeview is taking time to get right!
...I've had my Sony KD 32DX100 for just over a year now and am well impressed with everything about it. It has all the stuff you'd expect of a Sony...good picture, easy to use menus, easy to set up....and a lot of things that have come as nice surprises! For instance 3 scarts at the back, one of which can be set to output digital TV. That means you only have to connect the TV to your vcr with one scart and you can record digital TV whilst you watch analogue! It all helps.
Setting it up was an absolute doddle and, although you have to turn the analogue and digital tuners separately, it doesn't take more than five mins tops.
Once set up, navigating around the menus takes a little time to get used to but is fairly intuitive.
The sound isn't fantastic but that isnt what you buy this kind of TV for...its the picture. I watch a lot of DVDs...
