Advantages: Large Snooze Button and good sound tone. Disadvantages: Large number of buttons and bright display.
...My old Morphy Richards clock radio's display finally packed in recently so I ventured to my nearest independent electrical retailer and paid £14.99 for the SonyICF-C317 Clock Radio.
The unit measures approx 14cm by 14cm by 6.5cm. At first glance, it looks a little unusual in that the radio 'sits' on four stubby little legs, each about a cm high, leaving a gap underneath.
The front display is very clear, with radio frequencies written in white against a black background. The LED display is green and for me, is simply too bright. There is no dimmer facility and it took quite awhile to get used to it. I nearly took it back just because of this problem. That aside, the am/pm and function led indicators are clear and easy to spot.
The radio is a 2-band model. FM covers 88 to 108 MHz while AM caters between 53 and 170 x10 kHz. This...

...My Experience
-------------------
Do you have trouble getting up for work in the morning ? Well I used to before being made redundant and deciding to stay at home with the babies as a house husband. I used to work on the London Underground which meant at times I would have to get up at 2:30am to get the train at 3am for work and the one thing I needed was an alarm clock as the one we had was very old and not very loud. I went out shopping for one and considered many different models but in the end the best value for money at the time (about 3 years ago now) was the SonyC470 which was an alarm clock radio and seemed to suit my needs very well as I needed an alarm that was very loud, loud enough to wake me after about 4 hours sleep and believe me when your in to your sleep by that amount of time it can be hard to wake.
The Sony...

NOT!!!!
~ What is it ~
The SonyICF-C270 is an FM/AM clock radio that has incorporated an alarm function to wake you up in the morning (or for prompting the memory). It is quite flat (2 inches high or so) so it takes up some space on the bedside table. It is white in colour but black at the front where the red display of the clock is (and includes a red dot shown either beside the am or pm markers depending on the time of day). It is square in shape with two rounded edges.
SOUND
The sound comes from one speaker found on the top of the machine and to the top right (looking down on it). It is in stereo (I think, the radio is not that clear so I can’t really tell).
BUTTONS/ CONTROLS
On the top of the machine there is a slide control that can be used to turn the radio on, set the alarm on to buzzer or radio and off (this...
