FEATURES OF THE SONY KDL-46W3000

Enhanced colour reproduction functions - Firstly the colour reproduction features sport an x.v technological function which magnifies the range of colours by 2. This,in turn, allows the screen resolution to appear 'more natural' (as Sony claim) and detailed (a true delight to the eye) and its execution is sublime. In short the eye possesses colour characteristics which they are used to and Sony have created a technology that will allow the LCD's colour range to coincide with the characteristic colours of your eye. This tends to improve the LCD's performance and is certainly a visual treat. (x.v technology is also known as Live Colour Creation.) Also note that since Sony produce already high quality LCD's it doubles their 'standard' colour range, however it allows the colour range to be reproduced 80 percent more than an average LCD television.

A 10-bit panel - In short this is a very technical aspect of the LCD, which allows the LCD's colour gradation to multiply by 64 times as opposed to 8-bit panels, and this also adds to the enhancement of visual performance for the 46W3000.

Full HD - As many of Sony's LCDs are this is also full High Definition ie it gives the consumer a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution.

Amazing response-time - 8ms (milliseconds) allows Live sports such as football and action packed movies to appear naturally and avoids the juddering effect which many LCDs possess.

The Bravia EX Picture Processing Engine - The KDL-46W3000 sports an excellent Bravia EX Picture Processing Engine (although it's a slightly weaker version of the Brava 'Pro' engine. Sony have in fact omitted the Sony Motionflow +100Hz and the USB photo viewer (however it is only a slight loss)

24p True Cinema - Again innovation is always seen in the KDL range and this too plays movies at the right '24 frames per second' again eliminating the judder effect (this eliminates the problem through playing movies at the right 49 milliseconds whereas the 25fps LCD systems have a small ms gap which causes jerks often - which is agitating to say the least.) This particular function also contains a sub feature known as Theatre Mode which basically which adapts the colour to suit the movie to make it appear as if it was the original.

Ever heard of 'theatre sync' - Sony have named their CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) theatre sync. This control executes a one touch control, practically if you turn on your Xbox 360, DVD player or any other LCD compatible device: it will switch on the LCD tv…which means you can use the same control to switch on your Xbox 360 and LCD tv ( and even PC if you use it as a PC…this product contains a VGA ports which enables PC connectivity.

Audio features - This LCD also sports the S-Force Front Surround sound system to recreate a multi-feature surround sound, allowing you aurally indulge into many sounds ( BANG - somebody just got killed in Goodfellas - BRILLIANT). In addition this saves money on buying external audio equipment!!!!!

Accessibility:

You can use this for HD gaming ie Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3, you can use it as a monitor for your PC (which is amazing!), you can use it to watch HD movies and even homemade movies made on camcorders (HD preferably).

My response on the KDL-46W3000's execution:

I would say that this LCD would come into my top 10-15 range of LCDs. The only reason it did not make my top 5 is because it lacks the desirable features I personally want (obviously the Bravia Pro engine, not the Ex engine!)
All in all an A grade product from Sony!
