Art Couture over HD anyday! 6 of 6 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages Timeless, beautiful design with gorgeous picture quality

Disadvantages Heavy and chunky!!

The Sony KV28FC60 is a Wega Widescreen (16:9) Pure flatscreen CRT television (100Hz). It was marketed under Sony's 'Art Couture' range and was at the time their top of the range television.

I bought mine back in 1999 for £1275 and by todays standards is a little behind the technology but honestly I wouldn't dream of changing it for any of these new LCD, Plasma, HD models.

The specs of it are still impressive, even for a 7 year old model; 100hz refresh rate, three scart sockets (one of which RGB compatible for amazing picture quality) and sockets to receive your camcorder. The look of the thing though is its real selling point. Its rounded metallic edges and chic glass shelves make it as sexy as any tele on the market today. The top of the unit is brushed aluminium with an illuminating control panel which glows red when in use - gorgeous!! The whole thing oozes quality and one has to say like nothing available on the high street today.

The picture quality is quite remarkable. It produces rich creamy images associated with all Sony Wegatelevisions and the sound which vibrates from its two built in digital speakers is second to none. I find the picture contrast most impressive, particularly when being viewed in 'Live' mode.

It was one of the first models to have the, now ubiquitous, 'AI' (artificial intelligence) feature which filters out interference and intensifies the picture colour and contrast to give an even more lush viewing experience. All the settings are very easy to tweak as the on screen menus are childs play.

The televisons were very rare in 1999 and even more so now but if ever you see one going for a song on eBay, and you cant decide on whether to go for an HD ready thingy!, I can assure you will not be disappointed with the old Wega.
