The picture is absolutely fantastic, pin sharp, excellent colour and no flicker at all. When first looking at the screen I think the screen is inverted because for the last 30 odd years all the TVs I’ve watched ... ...as reliable as the other Sony equipment I’ve got it will only need replacing when the technology inside it becomes obsolete!
I paid £890.00 for the set, which came with a Free Sony DVD player and was £100 cheaper than the Sony Centre sale price. I could have bought the set for £100 less without the DVD player but in view of the fact that the DVD player is retailing at £170.00 I am better off taking the deal and selling the DVD player. more
Last Saturday I took my daughter for her swimming lesson. While she was changing I had a look through the town centre with my son. Having recently got a DVD player I was thinking about getting a wide screen TV to get the most out of the DVD Player. I saw an excellent priced set £349.00, 32” wide screen, Dolby Surround Sound, 100 hz. The only down sides were that this was an ex-rental set and the make was a Thomson. The picture is absolutely fantastic, pin sharp, excellent colour and no flicker at all. When first looking at the screen I think the screen is inverted because for the last 30 odd years all the TVs I’ve watched have had a curved screen. This screen is absolutely flat in fact you could use it for a table if you laid the TV on it’s back!
Setting the TV up was simple set the Language and then press auto tune. The set tuned into all the stations and then rearranged them into the correct order without me having to do anything. There are a number of various settings, colour, Brightness sound etc. etc. that can be adjusted quite easily by navigating the menu settings with the remote control.
The set is extremely heavy and it took two of us to lift it safely onto the stand. Talking of the stand this took a good hour to put together correctly and is also quite heavy weighing in at 23 Kg.
I am extremely pleased with the set and if it is as reliable as the other Sony equipment I’ve got it will only need replacing when the technology inside it becomes obsolete!

The set I've got is the latest version of this TV a KV-28FX65 the KV-28FX60 is no longer available
Advantages: You can watch films how they were made to be watched. Excellent picture quality.Surround Sound is great for movies like the Matrix and the Fifth Element. Disadvantages: Only 2 scart sockets can cause aggreviation, when you have a lot of extra equipment. Although you can loop them through the video.

This is my story skip to the end if you want info on what the tv is actually like.
I went around the internet for about 4 months before deciding at long last this was the TV for me. I had speculated over the fact that there are only 2 scart sockets on the back of the TV for quite a wile. But having made my mind up I proceeded down to the local Dixons to buy my new TV.
When ... ...and took the television out. I did not need the stand as I already had a cabinate to put the TV in.
I fiddled around for hours around the back to try all the different combinations of sockets and plugs.
The thing is I have got Sky Digital, a DVD player and a VCR, thus meaning I have 3 scart plugs but only 2 sockets. At first I went out to the shops and bought a 3 scart socket adaptor, but when I plugged the Sky and the Dvd into the TVs new adaptor ...

I contacted Sony recently (about a month ago) to enquire whether there was a software update available for this TV (as the newer models apparently have had these problems ironed out) however I have received zero response from them - which is apparently typical of Sony.
Other than that it is a good TV, it's just a shame Sony after sales don't answer their mail.
NB. It's now more than 2 years since I wrote this and I'm still waiting for ...

Sony have always been a manufacturer who like to stay at the top of the market and the launch nearly 18 months ago of the FX20 in its current form merely confounds this. Incororating Sony's WEGA technology, the picture is exceptionally good for a "basic" 50hz television, and coupled with a DVD player the effect is simply stunning. The set is catered for in the sound department with a simple Nicam setup which although not particularly technologically advanced, is effective none the less. If you're really looking for a Pro-Logic set, Sony also manufacture the KV28FS20 which is identical in every way except that it has a Dolby Pro-Logic setup in preference to it's Nicam equivalent.
In summary, the FX20 is a fantastic set, though if you can afford the 100hz set then you will obviously reap the benefits (the KV28FX60). If you're looking to ...
