Hi, this review is about Sony’s earphone MDR-EX700.
Manufacturer
Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka are the founders of Sony around 1946. Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo was what they were originally called which is interpreted as Tokyo Telecommunication Engineering Company. Morita and Ibuka made a living by repairing radios and manufacturing voltmeters. These two were always designing and manufacturing new electronics. One of their first innovations was the automatic rice cooker that was successful.
This is what was put together to create the name Sony. The word sonus, meaning sound in Latin and the term sonny boy that was used in America, which mean bright youngster.
Sony is a household name, everywhere you go, Sony is there. Mobile phones, earphones, microphones, TV, camera, cam recorder, video recorder, DVD recorder, the list goes on.
Design
The design is an in-canal headphone, simply the earphone goes in the canal rather than covering the ears. The earphones is pushed a few millimetres into the canal like an ear plug, this helps prevents external noise coming in whilst listen to the sound coming from the earphones.
The MDR ex700 has the ability to help prevent distortion by a newly developed multiple layer diaphragm. This gives the pristine audio.
It comes with a 1.2 meter long cable, which is enough distance from your ears to your pockets.
Without the cable, the earphone weighs only 6 grams. Probably like holding a couple of grapes in your hand.
Sound Quality
The MDR-EX700 earphone has an amazing 16mm driver unit that gives flawless sound. Vocal and instrumental sounds will be clear to the ear drums enabling you to enjoy the music even more.
Many new earphone have a frequency range of 5 – 24,000 Hz, but the Sony’s MDR-EX700, the frequency is 4-28000 Hz. The quality stands out more than most other earphones.
Comfort
Sony seem to be changing it’s design to the hybrid silicone ear buds. It is to feel like a tailored fit so it feels comfortable. The MDR ex-700 comes with 7 different size of the newly developed super soft ear buds that is easily detachable and attached.
You may notice the shape of this earphone is different to many earphones, it is the new closed vertical in-ear design, it is to ensure maximum comfort and reduces vibration.

Website
This is the Sony’s website to view this product. You may find extra interesting fact.
I would recommend it, but its your decision. The price is high and the looks is not that great but if you want high quality, then the MDR EX700 has it for you.
Advantages: Great looks, classic design, strong build quality, amazing sound Disadvantages: A bit too big to use with portable devices
When I bought these headphones I first tried them out in my local Sony Centre and was simply amazed by the sound quality. I was used to the SonyMDR-EX71SLW in ear headphones which I used with my iPod Nano, and in comparison to those, the sound from the MDR-V 700DJ had much more depth and clarity. I was also impressed by the look of these headphones, the classic design still looks fresh even today. They felt comfortable to wear, and the materials felt strong and chunky, with an impressive feeling of high build quality.
Needless to say, this first taste was enough to sell them to me, and I have now had them for over two years. I must however admit that they have not had as much use as I had initially intended, or indeed as they deserve. The main intention of use for the headphones when I bought them was to use them to listen to my i ...
