Advantages: Small, Sound Great, Comfortable Disadvantages: Mind those cars whilst walking! Very Bassy
When these earphones first arrived at my door from America (it was cheaper that way!) I noticed the size of these things! Compared to my old earbuds they are absolutely tiny, measuring only about 12mm across the main earphone body!
They also come with a choice of 3 different sized heads, which is very nice as not everyone has the same sized ears. I prefer to use the smallest heads as they fit into my ear better. Another nice surprise ... ...like the Apple or Koss varieties. These heads are more of a 'mushroom' shape, so the outer bit of them compresses onto the main 'tube' that goes into your ear, then springs back out when in, to hold it there and provide excellent insulation.

They also come with a choice of 3 different sized heads, which is very nice as not everyone has the same sized ears. I prefer to use the smallest heads as they fit into my ear better. Another nice surprise about the rubber 'heads' is that they are not solid, like the Apple or Koss varieties. These heads are more of a 'mushroom' shape, so the outer bit of them compresses onto the main 'tube' that goes into your ear, then springs back out when in, to hold it there and provide excellent insulation.
The main advantage of these I noticed is that they sound amazing and due to the 'in-ear' design, hardly any sound is lost out of them, even at high volumes, so you don't annoy people sitting near to you (especially handy in class!).
As well as sounding great, they are extremly comfortable, the rubber which goes into your ear is very soft and supple, so sits there nicely and doesn't move, irritate or ache after long periods of wearing.
There are only two disadvantages I have noticed about them, and im not too sure that one of these is a bad thing. That is the amount of bass these tiny things put out, its actually quite surprising, so i would only recommend these to people who have mp3 players or cd players with adjustable equalisers, or the bass may be too much! (I use the equaliser on Jazz or Acoustic as the mid and high ends are higher) The only bad point which I'm certain is bad is the sound insulation, whilst walking with them in it would be very easy (and also stupid!) to simply walk out into a road and not hear a car coming! It shows how good the sound insulation is but also how potentially dangerous these are! Believe me on that one, I have nearly done it a few times!
Overall i would say they are exceptionally good earphones and well worth the £20 I paid for them and I would definately recommend them to anyone with an adjustable equaliser on their 'sound device' (due to the very high bass).
Advantages: none Disadvantages: tinney, overpriced, small driver, no ompf
I bought the Sony MDR-EX 51 LP earbuds and a $10 pair of Sony SONY MDR-E10LP Earbuds to make a comparison test to replace those that came with my iPod. You would think the more expensive product is the better product. NOT SO! Please save time and money and heed my experience.
These had no bass response in my iPod despite the packaging that spoke of hightened Bass response. It had NO BASS RESPONSE compared to the SONY MDR-E10LP earbuds. The latter ... ...response, volume and the pleasure factor. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this overpriced, overratted inferior product. You will love the MDR-e10LP earbuds, trust an audio engineer. I know good sound. The MDR-EX 51LP are crap! Save your ears, save some money and get THE CHEAPER MDR-e10LP earbuds! ...
