The area which lets it down is the fact that the basic camera does not come with a mains adaptor and that it runs off a special Sony battery (so no use for the rechargable AA's I had). Sony are asking for over £118 for a mains adaptor, while batteries start at over £30.

(+) Ultra-compact dimensions, fun automatic tools, good performance for the asking price (-) Cluttered menu layout, camera buttons are scarce, specs are almost identical to the Samsung ES15
Advantages: Cheap media, easy to use Disadvantages: No mains lead included and expensive to run

Good points include a few special effects, autofocus - even at 2cm - and the on-screen battery charge indicator. I feel a second battery is almost obligatory for serious use, but the quality is excellent for webmasters.

I bought an FD73 to use on websites I design for small companies, so its use of floppy disks as storage media was ideal - no need to wait until I get back to the office to check the quality.
Although it's not a megapixel camera, at 640 x 480 its full sized pictures would be too big for a website anyway, and the ability to zoom into a ridiulously short distance (about 2 cm!) is excellent when dealing with scale models.

Advantages: Convinient where loads of people use it, share images on the spot, no cables with FDisks. Disadvantages: Poor picture quality when enlarging images, heavy.
The MVC-73 is a good camera using floppy disks to store the images. You can get 40 images on one disk in standard mode (20 in fine). The effects are quite good and the zoom isn't bad either. This camera is not good if you are planning to take photo quality images. The quality leaves a lot to be desired. It is fine if you want small images like you find on the internet but as soon as you want to print on photo paper or make them a decent size the ... ...although it is easy to use and uses a very cheap storage media. This camera also allows you to make a copy of your images onto anouther disk so you can give everyone the images on the spot.
This camera is convenient but very expensive considering the quality of the puictures. If you are the only person going to use the camera it really is worth the effort to plu the camera in to your PC for your holiday snaps.
This camera is best suited to Schools ...

Advantages: Use of Floppy Disks Disadvantages: Lighting is poor
Sony has a wonderful concept with this camera. Floppy disks are practically free these days, so there is virtually no cost for "film". I have another digital camera, but the memory card makes it very inconvenient for traveling. Whenever the card is full you have to download the photos to your laptop, or buy extra cards. With the Mavica - you just bring along a box of disks. Each disk holds about 24 pictures on Fine resolution, and about 40 with Regular ... ...difficult to get right. Pictures in broad daylight, outside, come out fine, BUT if you take pictures indoors or in low-light, the pictures come out really dark. The flash floods the photo in white, and washes out the picture, and the exposure feature is difficult to use - I never got the hang of it. Unfortunately - I bought the earliest model. Newer models may be much better, so ask your dealer to let you test the camera is a few different lighting ...

it is very simple to use, alot simpler than you would think but it has a great instruction manual with it. Although you can get this product cheaper,
they are only cheaper made i believe the more you pay the better the quality of the product and this is a cut above the rest. I would recommend this product to anyone who has thought about bying it, ...
