Finally for pros, the Sony Cards probably look the most pleasing when in the console out of all the memory cards.Their shape is designed to mimic that of the end of the PSX controller cord that plugs into the console, meaning the two protrude out at an even distance , and the only thing to separate them in looks is the cord and the stickers (if you have them on).

I have a little time on my hands before I have to get ready for work, with not enough time to watch a movie, play a game or read a book, I will write a little review of an essential accessory for the PlayStation 1 or 2, the Memory Card.
As far as I am aware, the PlayStation was the first mainstream console that required gamers to buy any sort of device for saving their game information. The Saturn had a large cartridge for memory that had to be bought, but it also sported an internal memory with so much space. But the PSX required you to shell out an extra £10 at the time for the luxury of saving your games. Each memory card contains 15 'blocks' of saving space, every save game takes up a varying amount of memory blocks, for instance I think the Tekken games only take about 2 blocks each, yet larger games like Resident Evil will take up more room. I even remember hearing at the time of a football management game that required an entire memory card to itself!.
The actual device itself is very small, and made of durable plastic. Originally, the card was just sold in the dull grey colour of the original PSX console, but later in the life, when rival console the Nintendo 64 started offering controllers in various colours, Sony responded by releasing their own Dualshock controllers and memory cards in translucent colour designs. Personally, I own two Sony cards, one original Grey one, and one translucent black one, other colours I know available in the translucent range include Blue, Red and Green.
The plus side to the Sony Memory Card, is that it is probably the most reliable memory card available for the PlayStation. My sister has only ever bought lower costing, more spacious unnofficial cards, and she has encountered problems with a number of them, while I, nor anyone I know, has ever had a problem with the official cards.
The cards also come with little stickers for the front and spine of the card, so you can write what saves you have on it, avoiding confusion if you have two or more cards the same colour, or simply haven't played the PSX in a while.
Another plus, and the major one, is that it allows you to save data! no more starting from the beggining every time or putting in horrible passwords as was the norm on older consoles, here you can keep characters you have unlocked for as long as you like or restart from the furthest level you reached.
The first major downside is that, well, it really sucks having to pay an extra wad of money just to be able to save your games. You shell out a lot of money for the game, then get home and realise you need to pay more to be able to save your progress, that just sucks. It isn't even like the Saturn, which had limited internal memory, you need a memory card to complete most PlayStation games. The other downside is that the cards really don't hold all that much memory. 15 Blocks. Given that a large scale adventure game can eat up most of the card, that won't last all that long in a lot of gamers lives. Which means you have to delete saves, but you never know when you may want them again.
At the end of the day, I refuse to give the Sony Memory Card any higher than 3 stars, but at the same time I acknowledge that it is necessary if you want to get the most, or even a lot out of your PlayStation. While I will definitely recommend this over any third party alternatives, I also grudge having to pay for it.
It isn't nice, it isn't fun, but you need it if you want to save PlayStation games, simple as that. You can now pick them up for £1 or £2 each second hand, a true bargain
While I dislike memory cards, if you have a PlayStation you need at least one, and there are none better than the official number
Advantages: store game data fast to memory cards, small and slim design Disadvantages: can't save game data to any other format
...The good thing about the Sony Playstation 2 PS2 Twin Memory Card pack is that you get two memory cards at a price which would be lower than what you would pay for two separate memory cards. This will mean you can save some money by buying the twin pack. Also they come in different colours which is pretty good. ...

...tried some different brands to Sony for my memory cards, but I just found them to be to unreliable after I had one fail and then another one give me an electric shock through its highly mint metal casing. At least these Sony ones do work, even if still in a double pack they’re pretty expensive.
The main thing I have against these double packs are the colours they come in. Whereas in a single pack they are generally a nice black or grey colour, in ... ...I mean do they think that it’ll look good with my silver PS2.
Anyway, apart from that they offer excellent quality, at comparatively good value, so I’d stock up as Sony say that they’re not necessarily going to keep making these double packs, and that would be a blow. ...

Advantages: Theres lots of memory Disadvantages: 2 Different Cards, not all on one
I thought that these were great when I first bought them. There coolish colours (don't go with the PS2 but who cares there fun) you get a total of 16 mb of memory for around £17. They work like normal ones so there's really nothing special about them there just general PS2 memory cards but funky colours. If I had the choice now to buy memory I would not purchase these. I would take my time to look on the internet for Max Memory cards which you can ...
