When I bought my new Sony Vaio PC this little mouse came with it. As expected, with it being part of a package, it was nothing special, as with the quite basic keyboard I recieved with it. Well I have to admit I've never wrote a review on something as basic as a mouse before so I might struggle, but I'll give it my best shot!
----------- BRAND -----------
The mouse is produced by sony, although it doesn't say sony on the tope of the mouse, instead it says "VAIO." VAIO is a brand name that Sony has placed on a wide range of its computer products, including keyboards, mice, speakers and the computer units themselves although not the monitors for some reason. Its good quite a good reputation, despite them only attaching the brand about two or three years ago. The most popular products labelled by the brand are the VAIO laptops.
---------- PRICE ----------
I'm not sure what the price of this mouse is on the high street, as it came as part of a package. However, despite it being a Sony, at the end of the day it is only a basic mouse so I wouldn't expect to pay more than £15 at the most. You can pick up optical and USB mice now at around £15 so I would regard that as a bare maximum.
--------- STYLE ---------
This is a basic scroll mouse. It has 2 large buttons with a scrole button inbetween them, ideal for browsing the internet or scrolling up and down documents. Its the traditional PS2 style mouse, so arguably its a bit past its date with all these new USB and cordless mice. You simply plug it into the back of your PC and your away, no installation neccessary.
------------ DESIGN ------------
The mouse is a pretty circular shape, with a small body. The part which sits under the palm of the hand is quite large, for comfort and gets smaller towards the front for your fingers. Its been designed well, because in my opinion its very ergonomic and comfortable to use unlike some mice. Its not big and bulky either which is a bonus. The colour of the mouse is a pretty basic grey shade, nothing special. Its made of plastic like most mice and the scroller is made of rubber.
-------------------- EASE OF USE --------------------
Well I don't know about you personally, but it really annoys me when the mic begins to stick and becomes difficult to use. Unfortunately I'm not the one for cleaning them either, to me its a pharse having to open it and clean out the inside. Within only two or three months of having the mouse it was sticking. But I thought I'd have a look inside anyway to see if there were any large clumps of dust that needed to be removed but strangely the mouse was clean, I had only had it three months. Now maybe its me, who needs a new mouse mat instead of blaming it on the mouse. But anyway, I couldn't stop it from sticking and it was really annoying so i got an older mouse off my older computer and have used that since. Maybe I will have another go at cleaning it some time. I was quite dissappointed though, that a mouse from a good brand like sony would begin sticking in such a short period. But I guess its true that basically its only a name, and its probably no better than any other mice.
-------------- OVERALL -------------
Well at the end of the day, its a mouse, so I'm not really expecting much. However I was a little dissapointed by the sticking, which made it a pharse for me personally. Maybe I'm lazy and can't be bothered looking at it. Either way, I wouldn't expect it to stick within the first few months of usage. Despite this, the shape and deisgn of the mouse are all fine and I'd recommend it in these respects. If your looking for a super cool mouse though don't go out and buy one of these for £15, for an extra £10 or so get a cordless one or optical mouse which will fair much better in the long run.
all too much people are tempted to write praise for products, it's really good to see you being objective about your review and stating that it's not as easy to use. Fair play for honesty, will value your opinions on other products.
