I have now had a Sony Multiscan 200EST for about two years, moving around the world with it, and it's still fantastic. The colors, the sharpness and the clarity of the picture are still much better than a lot of other monitors I've seen, including active TFT flat panel (only Sony Vaio has monitors of the same quality - what I've seen so far).

Having an IBM G76 at work you realize how much more your eyes are going to relax sitting in front of the Sony at home, though both are running at 1024*768 with >80 Hz. The 'two' famous lines might disturb a bit editing photos, but since they give you the clear picture, it's worth it.

So if you are dealing with graphics, it's a fantastic buy, but you do need a good video card to power it. And it's not just a question of video memory, 8 MB are actually enough for the resolution, but the update speed is making all the difference. I have been completly satisfied with the combination of the monitor and a Matrox Mill G200. No updates nescessary or really required for over 2 years.
