Sony's Music Clip is a masterpiece of design, as one would expect from their Vaio range of multimedia technology. A friend got me one from New York (they're currently unavailable in the UK) and it was worth the wait. You record your CDs onto your harddrive in Sony's proprietary sound format and then transfer them via an ultra-fast USB connection to the unit itself, which is around the size and shape of a fountain pen. And the sound quality is fantastic and LOUD! They're quite expensive but better than the Memory Stick Walkman.
Advantages: Its Sony- wonderful quality Disadvantages: Functionality sucks
...Like almost all Sony consumer electronics, the MusicClip is superbly designed; its sleek, penlight shape really shines. But unlike almost all Sony consumer electronics, the MusicClip is let down in the functionality department.
For starters, files loaded into the MusicClip from one computer can't be transferred to another. And because of the recording industry's Secure Digital Music Initiative, most songs can't be uploaded to your MusicClip more than three times unless you first load them back onto your computer from the MusicClip.
But the MusicClip is stil a slim digital music device: 64MB of flash memory, 5 hours (but really about 4)of audio playback on one AA battery and a USB port for easy (but fiddly) transfer
Well despite all my moaning its hard to see how good this is-great sound and feel- the world is not perfect...
