Being a somewhat unorganised person, I didn't actually get round to looking for an mp3 player until the end of last year. However, being that special festive time of year my boyfriend jumped at the opportunity to buy me a present I actually wanted, and took it upon himself to trawl the internet for the best value-for-money mp3 player that would fit what I wanted. I had just bought him a top-of-the-line iPod so he naturally wanted to return the favour, and was aghast when I told him I didn't need anything as flash; all I was looking for was an mp3 with a decent amount of memory which was easy to use and had a screen so I could see what was playing. Little did I know he would get me something that so perfectly fitted my description and more for less than £100. First of all, it's aesthetically pleasing; it's so small and light, you hardly feel it in your pocket. I got the black one, and it just looks so smart. I have had so many people ask where I got it, and none of them can believe how good it is for the money it cost. Although 4GB is nothing huge by today's standards, it really is nothing to be sniffed at; I have tons and tons of music on mine, quite a few albums and there's still loads of memory left. The music files can all be easily uploaded and sorted into playlists using the handy Drag and Drop function with Windows Media Player, so if you've used that before you'll know how simple it is; you just drag the files you want into a list, then when you're done click the 'sync' button and they'll wizz their way to your mp3. But wait; there's more. Not only does the Walkman store digital photos and have an internal FM radio, but it plays videos too! My housemate used some software which resizes DVD files into much smaller files that take up hardly any room (I currently have the Tenacious D movie on mine, which only took up about 200mb) and the movie quality is fantastic; although the screen is a little bit on the wee side it's crystal clear and once your eyes get used to the screen size it's like watching it on tv. I also have some home movie files from my digital camera and tons of photos, although check the format of the files before you add so you can re-format if you need to. All in all, I'm sure you can tell I'm extremely happy with my Walkman. I love it to pieces, carry it everywhere and now have a constant soundtrack to my life thanks to the great battery capacity. The Sony Walkman NWZ-S616F is, quite simply, the bees' knees.

I love this thing! I only got it for Christmas 07, but it has not left my pocket all day! The sound is crystal clear and the headphones don't sound too loud to other people, so I'm told. The interface is simple and easy. It weighs about the same as a speck of dust; you can barely feel it in your pocket. The bass is just awesome for something so small!
I have just switched from a Philips to a Sony, and I wouldn't even consider going back. Sony now supply my MP4 player, my mobile phone and my games console; fantastic company!

Simple to use, syncs with Windows Media Player, excellent battery life, good display, compact yet easy to use controls. I have moved over from an 1st gen ipod nano on the strength of my Sony Walkman phone. No regrets, Sony has done it again. :-)
