Sony have really hit the nail on the head with this one.
Design: Lets get down to business; It works. With so many malfunctioning peices of equipment on the MP3 market, the NWE-107 is very, very reliable, and works even when dropped. That is thanks to the design. As you can see from the picture, there are absolutely no loose bits protruding out from it- and because it is in fact just one whole unit, it is mechanically very difficult to break. Along with this, song navigation is made simple due to the accessible buttons. The size and weight of this MP3 also means that you wont be having to cart around a bulging heavy lump in your pocket, which is a nice change.
Performance: Sound quality is excellent. I'll also mention that if you generally listen to most genres, the adjustable bass button located around the back of the MP3 can give you your desired sound. For example, if i wished to listen to a very vocal genre, such as pop or soft rock, then you can set the sound to a minimum bass. Alternatively, if i were to listen to dance music, the pounding bass that can be generated through it is very appealing on the ear to drum lovers such as myself.
Battery life is slightly optimistic, but nonetheless superb (around 55 hours i have found) and this is powered by just a AAA rechargeable battery. Very impressive. The sound quality is also maintained on low battery, which is a good asset.
Extras: This is the only section in which i beleive the NWE-107 can be faulted. Sonicstage is not particularly efficient at transferring songs, and is an all round poor media player. But as I personally see it, what are windows media/real player for? I recommend you use those instead for song playback. My only other fault are the headphones, which although do not affect sound quality, are poorly constructed and will at times fall out of your ear.
To conclude, it might not be as flashy as other MP3s, but with next to no faults as an MP3 itself, I have found the performance to be sublime. You can pick up refurbished ones from Ebay for about £55, which as illustrated, is excellent value. Thank you very much for reading.
