I just sent one of these players to my brother in Germany because it's so easy and manageable for when your travelling around and don't have time or the resources to charge your player or add tracks to it.
This is my first real mp3 player I have wanted to purchase after a good long session of research over net and reading loads of reviews and considering my budget, at first wanted to buy an iPod but considering my budget and the fact that I needed a player quite quickly as college was getting boring, I decided to opt for flash player, and considering that this Sony player lasts 70 hours on one battery, and the fact that I am lazy and would forget to charge my player a lot, I opted for the 1GB NW-E107.
When I first received it, I must say it looks very beautiful and stylish, and I personally think that the Blue one looks the best because the dark grey backing of the Silver one looks old fashioned, and the other colours are not even worth mentioning. It is very easy to hide in your pocket and it is also very compact and light. The sound quality is extremely excellent as expected from Sony products, the player has the best sound quality I have ever heard through a pair of good headphones, unlike the ones that come with this player which are triangle shaped and not very useable.
For the software side you can both drag and drop files by downloading the mp3 file managerV2.0 by visiting the Sony Website and Driver Downloads, or you can use Sonicstage 3.0 which you get on disc with the player. The unit itself is well-built and can last a long time; the face plate buttons are very intuitive and clever.
Most of the mp3 players I have used, usually lie about battery times, and their estimated battery times are calculated when the player is at its lowest settings possible, although most people listen to their music with the volume pumped up loud or at least over half the bar, and the battery time usually lasts 2-6 hours less then stated. But with this player, they say 70 hours battery time on 1 AAA battery, and that's exactly what you get.
The only complaints is the USB cover and Hold switch which is not that easy to operate, also the more substantial downside is the software that comes with it or the software you download from Sony's website, which lags and has trouble finding songs on your computer and has errors during transfers, but once you get used to that, everything's all good.
But in all, a superb player that is especially good for those long drives around Europe, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to forget the unnecessary feature and get straight to the meat, which in my eyes is the sound quality of the music and the battery time.
