I was given this Sony NW-E207 Pink Mp3 Player as a gift for my birthday and have used it constantly for the past year and a half, although I am sadly, experiencing some difficulties with it now (more about this later). Using my Mp3 Player is a great way to cheer myself up in the morning on those damp, rainy days heading to work! Listening to all my favourite songs is better than listening to the humble of traffic and noisy commuter's everyday!
So what is the Sony NW-E207 Mp3 Player?
The Sony NW-E205 Mp3 Player is a small electronic device which allows you to listen to music you have downloaded on to its internal software, through earphones.
REQUIREMENTS:
A compatible PC with a USB connection Earphones (provided with purchase)
How does it work?
It is simple. First of all, you need to install the software provided, Sonic Stage Music Management Software, on CD to your computer. Once this is complete, save songs from your favourite CD's into a folder on your computer. Then, using the software provided you've installed onto your PC, select the songs you wish to install on your Mp3 Player. Then, pop the USB connection out of the bean by sliding the shutter down, and connect this into the USB port on your computer. Follow the instructions on your computer and *darraaa*, you have music on your little Mp3 Player. It is as easy as that! This may sound complicated, but honestly, it isn't. You are provided with an instruction manual to help you along the way, as well as guidance in the programme you have just installed on your computer. The Mp3 is also charged when you connect it to a USB port and does not require batteries - cost saving and ease at hand.
So… Exactly what functions were included in my Mp3 player … ?
Not only can I play my favourite songs, I can also listen to my local & national radio station at the flick of a button. There is also a time & date function, as well as showing your battery life. The super quick battery charge allows you 3 hours of playback time, after charging for as little as 3 minutes, which is perfect if you are a busy person who is often on the go. If you're battery runs out whilst you are at work… why not pop it into your USB port and have it charged before going home? Perfect!
*** DESIGN ***
As with all products, the design is a major factor. I think the bean shaped Mp3 player is great because it is different and looks adorable! The bean is available in several colours such as Pink, Black and White, so there is something to suit everybody. The design is suited for left and right hand users as well. It really is versatile.
*** DISPLAY ***
You can save all your songs separately or in to individual folders by Artist etc. Whilst your song is playing, you can view information about the music such as the length of track, song title, album title or Artist's name.
*** BATTERY *** If you charge your Mp3 player for 3 minutes, you get up to 3 hours of playback time. However, if you charge your Mp3 player for longer (see instruction booklet), you get up to 50 hours play back time…. Equivalent to over 2 days!
*** MEMORY ***
This Mp3 player has 1GB memory which will hold roughly 695 of your favourite songs, depending on the length etc. Although, the same Mp3 player is available with smaller memory (512MB).
Skip Proof Design…
The Mp3 player has a skip proof function, so even if you are doing vigorous exercise on a treadmill, you can still listen to your favourite songs, without the hassle and nuisance of your song jumping / cutting off.
*** PRICE ***
The price varies depending on where you buy your Mp3 player from. This one costs roughly £70.00. You can purchase your Mp3 player with Sony's online shop and selected retail shops.
*** ACCESSORIES ***
Audio Connecting Cable - Connect your Mp3 player to an amplifier
Hear Sports - Specially designed ear phones to use whilst taking part in sport activities
* My Opinion *
I love this Mp3 player because of its great design. It is fun and the pink makes it nice and girly, which I am. The fact you can charge your Mp3 player as little as 3 minutes is perfect for me as I am quite often on the go. Not only that, but the battery has a very long life time and you don't need the extra cost and hassle of replacing batteries. It is easy to download music and take it off again if needed on to my Mp3 player, so I'll never get bored of the same songs and can update it with the latest hits. There is an instruction booklet provided as well so you should never get stuck using your Mp3 player. The quality of sound is also fantastic...I haven't had a problem yet.
The only downside for me is the fact that there is a slide shaft to put your Mp3 player on hold and to pop your USB connector out. Sometimes, this can slide open itself which can become a pain! All in all - a great purchase!
Advantages: Very good battery life, small+convenient, looks good, sound quality. Disadvantages: Very easily damaged, Poor quality plastic parts and design, Song uploading is a long process.
...with the size of the sony bean too, as it fits well in the palm of your hand, and perfectly in the front pocket of your cycling shorts, and therefore a nice tool if you're a gym goer. It does look good, too.
Unfortunately, it goes downhill from there.
What I don't like about this product:
Its durability is dire. I always look after my property, but I expect a firm like Sony to make a product slightly more accustomed to a day to day environment. ... ...30cm onto a well cushioned carpet, which caused the USB slide (and the hold button) to come out of place. Having temporarily fixed it, i checked to see if it worked, when i noticed that two buttons next to the screen were not responding. Irreparable. £80 down the drain.
So why did this happen?
The design of the bean is so frustratingly poor. There are four buttons, that are mounted on a very delicate D-pad, which control stop/play, song selection, ...

Advantages: small and compact built in usb + usb extension Disadvantages: no neckstrap
I was given this as a christmas present and must admit I was not sure if I even wanted a mp3 player. I opened the box and saw the player and thought what the heck I will give it a try. The software that came with it was very easy to install and use and I am even using the sonic stage software as my main media player now as it so simple to organise music files. The manual for the player itsdelf is also pc based in the form af a pdf file that opens ... ...desktop as it means if you are having a problem trying to do something there is no rummaging around drawers finding the handbook.
the player has all the features I have found myself needing. shuffle simply does what it says, plays the tracks in a random order. Repeat, again what it says, you can select certain tracks and play them on a loop. The display is clear and gives me enough information that i want. artist track and folder name (you can arrange ...

Advantages: Attractive design, good display screen, good sound quality Disadvantages: Software is slow, small buttons, sometimes confusing
This is a fairly good product if you wanted the basics in a MP3 player but I have found the software quite slow to use. Also the buttons are very small and can sometimes be pressed without the intension of doing so.
However the quality of sound is good and if you buy good headphones I find that the product is much improved. It is small and compact so good for portable use and the display screen is easy to navigate which is an advantage. I would ...

...had to buy new headphones for it (the Sony ones are constantly falling out - not much of a sound experience). If you were getting it second-hand, cheaply with all its software for a non-music aficionado I might recommend it, however I suggest that serious buyers look elsewhere. ...

Advantages: bean shape fits perfectly in your hand Disadvantages: easily damaged
As soon as I seen this little MP3 player I wanted it. When I got it I was not let down a bit.
Its nice bean shape and design means it fits perfectly in your hand. Would be especially good for jogging. Although a neck strap can be fitted (not included) if preferred.
Took a while to figure out as instruction booklet wasn't really that clear. Kept playing first song or every album which was beginning to frustrate me but I figured out that once you ... ...menu key once more to display the song names. It then plays them all. You also have to option of repeating one album, one song or shuffle. Displays the time and date also.
Charges in USB port of your PC so theres no need to fiddle with batteries. Also a 3 minute charge gives you 3hrs playback! It states it holds up to over 600 songs. I have actually only got around 400 songs on mine as it depends what bit rate the songs are that you download onto ...
