I have to say I am a great fan of the playstation 2, my son has one and he loves to play it, as do I. Although I tend to limit the time he spends on it.
I cant really find anything bad about the ps2, but lately it has been partly to blame for a few problems in my family, my younger brother who is 15 years old first got his when he was about 8 years old, he was over the moon, my mother also put a limit on the time he would spend on it. He was fine with this, he was`nt really a child who went out a lot so most of his time was spent on the playstation or having a chin wag with anyone who would listen, he was always very smart and sensible. (or so we thought)
Since then he has gathered up lots of games and still enjoys playing on the ps2, but he moved in with his father when he was 14, this is were the problem began as he started to spend more and more time on the playstation, his father has tried to limit the time he spends on it, but my younger brother just wont take heed. He either waits until his dad is in bed and then he puts it on or he waits until hes out. He would sit up until early hours of the morning, so therefore he is to tired for school (only got himself to blame) he has missed a lot of time off school for this reason and has feel far behind in his course work and is now feeling the pressure, so his solution to this is to leave school.
His dad is at his wits end and does not know what to do for the best, ((I know your probably thinking he needs to be a lot more stricter but he is finding it hard trying to get through to him) as he still does not go out much. The point of my review is that if you are buying a games console for your child, I think parents need to be sensible about the time spent on it as it is really hard to put it down once you have started playing, I can sit for hours and play it, but not to the extent it affects everyday life.
The playstation 2 is great for kids when used sensible, the graphics are great and there is a wide selection of games for all ages, which are marked clearly on the game covers, its easy and fun to use. the Playstation itself now costs around £100 and the games vary in price, depending on how up to date they are. You can also get package deals were you might get the console and 2 or 3 games included. there are different package deals out there, so you would need to shop about for an idea on the package deal prices. I am not sure about these prices as I bought my sons 2 years ago.
I dont mean to put anyone of the ps2 because if you are sensible there is a lot of fun in it for kids (and us big kids too)
thanks for reading

(+) i don't think their is one unless you wanna save on the electricity bill a tiny percentage. (-) There's really not much point to it. but i still love playstation!
The world's most popular computer entertainment platform has just received a sexy, sleek ... more
redesign. While inheriting the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PlayStation 2 (Video Game Console), the internal architecture has been complete...
Advantages: The most powerful console Disadvantages: Games cannot take advantage of all its features because they have to be programmed manually, wasting processing power.
Advantages: It's Sony! It's got the most software developer support! Final Fantasy continues! Disadvantages: It's quite ugly, graphics are jagged in places
Advantages: Loads of games, doubles up as a DvD player, plays PS1 games. Disadvantages: Needs a mulitap for 3 players or more, Games should be cheaper.
