The Sony PS3 has become a well selling console since its release, allowing it to become a competitor of the Xbox 360. Which console is better? That depends on a lot of factors. I have spent a... more

I am going to be reviewing possibly one of the biggest console in the market currently the PS3. Firstly I have one and it is great, now let's take a look at it in detail: LAUNCH November 11, 2006: This is when it debut in Japan November 17, 2006: It released in North America March 23, 2007: Finally was released in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and New Zealand. The UK launch was a shock for who went to it, as it was announced that everyone in the queue would receive a 46" Sony Bravia TV worth £2000. The launches did not turn out great for Sony as initial figures were low, here are ... more

4 Stars PS3, for you and me? Review with images 08/02/2008
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Stylish, good games available + lots more on the way, blu ray

Disadvantages Disadvantages No HD cable in the box, no rumble, limited BC

The PlayStation 3 is Sonys third generation of home consoles. After the stellar performance of the PlayStation 2 and launch of its two rivals the Wii and Xbox 360 the PS3 has a tough act to follow. Sony are clearly not worried as according to their marketing the PS3 is a "supercomputer" and is capable of "4D" graphics, with such bold claims I had to pick one up for myself and see if it was true! Unboxing The first thing you will notice about the PlayStation 3 box is that it's huge! The Xbox 360 had a rather large box but this is incredible being about 1.5x as big. The box design itself is ... more

Advantages Advantages The best gaming console known to man!

Disadvantages Disadvantages A hefty price (although it is worth it)!

Playstation 3. The greatest gaming machine known to man. Those two sentences describe the PS3. If I wanted to, I could just leave the review at this point and post it as it is, because the two sentences I started with should be enough to convince you to buy a PS3. But in case that those two sentences aren't enough for you, I will carry on with what I think will be one of the longest reviews I am ever going to write!! This review will tell you about all the main parts of the console, and also a lot of what I think of the console. I feel it is important you know about the console itself, all the ... more

Advantages Advantages An amazing machine, expandable, some great features

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive (but for a reason), almost internet reliant, no browser security

I have a rather annoying habit. I tend to collect games consoles. The problem with this is threefold. It's expensive, Buggy (she who must be obeyed, but rarely is) doesn't like the fact that the bedroom where they all live and we sleep has more lights flashing than the average xmas tree and the one that's most annoying is I rarely play any games. I can't justify them, and I'm not even going to attempt to, although I managed to state a convincing argument about having a blu-ray player at the time. I did have a PS3 from the day they first came out (I get some great freebies with my job), but due ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Backward compatability probs, and some minor glitches

Sony Playstation 3 (60 GB) At last the pinnacle of next generation gaming is finally upon us. Or is it? Maybe so, but have we not seen all this already? Sony's new games console the Playstation 3 or more commonly known as the PS3 was finally released across the European Union and Australia as well as the other PAL region 2 compatible countries on Friday 23rd March. With up to 300,000 units available at launch it was unlikely that the PS3, which had already been available in Japan and US from November last year, was going to be an overnight sell out. Even now as I write this review they are ... more

    Help! Should I buy a PS3?

I have had an Xbox 360 for a few years now and don't know what I'd do without it. However, I have been deliberating on whether to add a PS3 to the collection. Nearly all my mates are 360 gamers and so what I'm really asking I whether it is really that much better than the 360 and if I should fork out so much money for one? Please help if you have first hand experience of comparing the consoles. Thanks
