The Sony PSP is a gaming device made for on the go gamers. There is a very wide range of games you can play on the PSP, and these mainly consist of previous PlayStation 2 games such as Grand Theft Auto Vice City and other classic games. The PSP is set out like a PlayStation controller but with a 4.3 inch screen in the middle. The console itself is a great size and does not weight very much. The screen also is very good - it delivers a clear picture and depending on the game, not bad graphics. The games are stored on a UMD disk which stands for Universal Media Disks which consist of 1.8GB. As well as buying games on the UMD disks, you can also buy popular films such as Spiderman and watch them on the go.
Not only is the PSP a great gaming and video playback device, but it can also be used as an MP3 player, a photo viewer and an internet surfer. With the correct WiFi connections the PSP can be used to look at any site you wish on the internet - including emails. The PSP also offers the very useful application of being able to download game demos staright onto the PSP with no extre fee and no limit to how long you can keep the demo. All you have to do is connect your PSP to the computer, download the demo you want and then simply drag the file into the PSP and it'll let you play it for as long as you want.
As mentioned, the screen on the PSP is a great size and extremely clear making viewing very easy, however, if you were thinking of buying one I would strongly recommend buying a screen protector as the screen is very easily scratched with the tiniest of things. Another minor problem with the screen is the fact that if you play the PSP in a bright place - such as outside on a sunny day, it is very hard to see what is actually going on during the game. This is a problem for most people as it means they cannot play their PSP where they want to if the sun is out or if there is a bright light on.
The other disadvantage of the PSP is the four buttons on the right side of the device. If like me you play the PSP most nights when in bed, the buttons over time start to feel a bit wobbly and loose in their place making the PSP relatively fragile. You do need to be careful about this as a PSP with no buttons is pretty pointless.
All in all I would say the PSP is still one of the best on the go gaming devices. Although there are a couple of minor faults with it there are certainly better things about it then bad things. It is great for watching movies, playing games, viewing pictures and surfing the net on the go. If you are looking for a portable gaming device with a large range of avalible games then I would say this is the one for you.
