Sony SLVD950GS

This DVD Video combi is the best I've see so far. I picked this up at the local electronics shops for an ridiclous price at under £150 (probably alot less nowadays). If you are familiar with vide equipment you will be able to set it up with ease though make sure you buy a decent scart lead as no lead is included .

Plugging it in and switching it on the screen read DVD Video I placed one in the CD tray and off it went, its totaly silent ...
...with for a few minutes the film began. The picture quality was amazing far superior to VHS and with my new surround sound speakers it is an amzing experiance. I later played a CD made by my PC. No On screen display only on the small LCD on the player itself. No Divx function. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Divx it is a type of movie which your home PC can download and write to a CD.

With subtitles and various other options fiddled with for a few minutes the film began. Now for the VHS, wow I kept thinking my videos have never sounded so good, then I relized the machine had Nicam sound if you have them hooked up I believe they will play in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.

The remote is the best it is big with large easy to see and use rubber buttons and survives the daily drop to the floor with no batteries flying out. I wish they'd event an unlosable remote though!!

Overall its a very good DVD/Video player and if you buy it you won't be dissapointed.
