If you are looking for a men best friend let me tell you that is not the dog! Is this new miracle calledSony STR-DA2400ES. It is the most performant thing you can ever buy at a very reasonable price!
It’s one of the most musical receivers you can buy at this price point – a fantastic achievement from SonyBut all Sony’s UK stock has had a firmware upgrade and we can now pitch the STR-DA2400ES against its key rivals.
Such is our admiration for the Sony, it’s extremely difficult to nail down any real criticisms. For a home cinema receiver, it’s remarkably musical.
It just loves firing out the crisp concise dialogue of The Darjeeling Limited and giving weight and solidity to the explosive action of Iron Man.
But the Sony also injects an extra layer of realism and emotion to a film’s music score. The Yamaha DSP-AX763 and DSP-863SE boast marginally greater transparency and dynamics, but the classical score of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull still sounds great.
The Sony times superbly, instruments sound natural, and it’s these intrinsic values that give it kudos in stereo mode, too. Very occasionally, treble can sound a touch bright compared with some other products on test, but complex rhythms don’t leave it dazed or confused.
