The heads are rotated to play one side of the cassette, and not rotated for the other side. And they don't seem to hit the rotation 'end stop' ... ...aligned correctly, resulting in significant changes in frequency response at the top end.
I got the deck to transfer a lot of old cassettes to CD, and was annoyed when I found these problems.
For day-to-day use, it might be OK for some people. But for anything else, look elsewhere! ... more

Advantages: Two Decks, a budget price, Sony name and build, servo controls Disadvantages: recording in different directions on different decks can end up a bit confusing, a bit clunky in operation, sound is OK
...was suprised to find a Sony for this little money. What you end up with is a famous name product with reasonable functionality, no graphic equaliser or remote control but you get two Decks, Dolby C, servo controls (although they are a bit clunky in operation) variable speed dubbing and a reasonable finish, mine was in black and matched nicely with some Marantz seperates I already had. Its not the smallest unit in the world so check the dimensions ...
