I recently purchused my NR11 from an online store, i have never owned a laptop previously but have plenty of experience with those belonging to student friends.
The vaio range have a certain "cool factor" which played a large part in my desicision to choose this over a similarly priced and specced notebook from toshiba or dell. Although the item is easy on the eye, it's new easy-grip dimpled design is different to the smooth, sleek shiny vaio models that most people will picture when the name comes to mind. It is also fairly heavy and bulky an annoyance if you are looking at portability.
As far as speed is concerned, with 1GB of ram it would normally be deemed reasonably quick, however running the new windows vista Home premium package takes up a large portion of this and so it is slower than it should be.
The vista operating system is another negative aspect of the laptop, i find it quite fiddly and it seems to have problems with many older programmes and games which i have attempted to install. The factory set security programmei also find quite overbearing and sometimes overly complicated to change. The widescreen x-black LCD screen provides extremley high quality viewing and the keyboard and mouse setup are very satisfactory. The easy to use volume settings are good but anyone wanting to use it as an entertainment system would be well advised to purchase a set of speakers as even on max volume it is not loud enough. The price however is what makes this laptop worthwhile, a high end name like sony vaio normally carries a hefty price tag but i picked the model up for around £550 which i thought very reasonable.
In essence if you are looking for a serious, high quality work tool then this model is not for you. If like me you are looking for a simple, good looking notebook that will cover your basic needs hen the vaio is as good an option as any.

...great new laptop from the sony vaio range. if your looking for somthing small, sleek, portalble and with fast speeds, then this is the one for you.
one great thing about sony over other laptop brands, is that you always know your sony laptop wil look cool. this vaio is no ecception, and i certainly wouldnt be embarresed to get this out in the street and play around with it.
its compact 15.4 inch screen also features active matrix technology which ... ...the newest games.
altogeather this is just a great laptop to have, it looks good and its easy to run, and best of all youll hardly ever become frustrated with it.
so if your looking for a new laptop then why not give the Sony VAIO NR11M/S a try. ...

Very Nice Look and feel to it, speedy thing if you upgrade Memory RAM, Perfect for college and student run and maybe med usage. Great for Spec games such as Lockdown and call of duty.
