Sony VAIO NS Series VGN-NS10L/S

...after I dropped my older sony n11m down the stairs. the reason I bought this model was based on a couple of factors , the price was very good and looking at machines in a similar price range the sony looked the best buy , also although my previous sony broke after dropping down stairs , it had been dropped several times before this (yes I know I am very clumsy,) yet had survived each and every fall with the only damage sustained being a broken DVD ...
...time will tell . the sony screen is amazing as should be expected. very clear definition and very pleasing to watch. opening the screen you can still feel that it is built sold , some other machines I looked at flexed badly at the screen when opening and just did not have the same robust feel to them ,

I got this machine as an early Christmas present from my wife after I dropped my older sony n11m down the stairs. the reason I bought this model was based on a couple of factors , the price was very good and looking at machines in a similar price range the sony looked the best buy , also although my previous sony broke after dropping down stairs , it had been dropped several times before this (yes I know I am very clumsy,) yet had survived each and every fall with the only damage sustained being a broken DVD tray.

on opening I was please to find the same durable feel of quality as my previous model , it was very easy to set up following the online instructions , it comes packaged with vista premium which I am still getting used to , and I am still not certain that its better than windows xp , but time will tell . the sony screen is amazing as should be expected. very clear definition and very pleasing to watch. opening the screen you can still feel that it is built sold , some other machines I looked at flexed badly at the screen when opening and just did not have the same robust feel to them ,

there is however one little moan I have to put in ,and it is the same moan I had when I bought my sony n11m , and it seams sony has unfortunately not taken this on-board , that is all the bulkware included within the machine , I wish sony would either include fully working programs with there machines or leave them off completely , the biggest offender is Microsoft office ,this is included as trailware only and should be included on any modern machine , this mean it is going to cost anyone buying this machine a fair amount to add on after purchase. although office is the most annoying there are plenty of other trailware programs installed on the machine. all they do is waste space , either include the full programs or leave us to choose our own programs to trail . even put them on a separate disk so anyone wanting to try out the software can install as needed . do not force all these half programs onto all of us.

the other slight moan is battery life , sony quote 3.8 hours battery time , and I know from experience to never take the stated battery time as truth ,as this is always worked out at optimum conditions , but I can not achieve any where near the stated 3.8 hours , in fact I struggle to make it past two hours , personally it does not bother me as I always work with it plugged in , but I just feel sony along with just about every other manufacturer out there should state the average battery time expected in normal use . and not worked out in a lab in optimum conditions .

these two little niggles aside , it is a very well made machine that has more than enough power ,speed and storage for 90% of computer users. I would defiantly recommend to friends and family or anyone else for that matter , but also warn anyone to factor the price of a good word processor into the price ,if that is something you wish to use

i have scored this products value as good , and it really is good , but with the inclusion of ms office in full version this could of scored excelant
