Manufacturer's product description
With a contrast ratio up to 15, 000:1 (with Advanced Iris on), guess where your friends and neighbors are watching the big game this year? Built on Sony's SXRD technology, the VPL-VW100 1920 x 1080p projector is built from three micro display panels supporting a Full High Definition 1080 line resolution image. This technology ensures support of full HD resolution with a film-like image presented in accurate color rendition and high contrast ratio providing you with that "at home" theater experience you've always desired. Providing the illumination is a Sony 400W Pure Xenon Lamp providing equal brightness output for each of the primary colors - red, green and blue, which are used to produce the trillions of colors that you as the viewer enjoy on the screen. The projector's Advanced Iris technology also helps to improve images by monitoring algorithms and adjusting the iris diameter so images in bright scenes are crisp and clear while black levels in dark scenes are deep and detailed. And forget the annoying loud projector sounds of the past; the VW100 is designed to remain ultra quiet while it removes heat at a noise spec of just 22dB.
Expansion / connectivity
Interfaces:
1 x S-video input - 4 PIN mini-DIN
1 x composite video input - RCA
1 x serial RS-232C - 9 pin D-Sub (DB-9)
1 x component video input - RCA x 3
1 x component video / RGB input - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)
Advantages: Motorised Tilt, Auto Setup Disadvantages: Poor Sound Quality
...The sonyVPL-ES2 is a great projector at a bargain price. I wil admit that I think it would struggle with large presentations with only having a 1500 lumen lamp. But for home use and for small scale office presentations this projector is just what you need.
I bought this projector for watching films at home after selling my previous projector due to it being far too noisy. This projector is very different when it is on the sound from it is barely noticeable.
If you've purchased a projector before then you'll know that the most important thing is the bulb life. Because when the bulb goes they can easily cost anywhere upwards from £300-£400. It is often a more economically viable option just to replace the projector. However with this projector you have no reason to worry. The bulb life is a staggering 3000hours and in eco mode...

Advantages: quiet, horizontal AND vertical keystone adjustment Disadvantages: no gamma correction facility, low output
...-saving solution and would make it less visible, it would also be less susceptible to damage once it had been installed on the ceiling.
What the VPL lacks in number of features it certainly makes up for in picture quality in my opinion. Sony have obviously prioritised correctly with this piece of kit because naturally with any projector the key is to have a high picture quality. This machine has three LCD panels fitted to improve colour accuracy and it uses high quality optics. If you’ve got a suitably-equipped DVD player the VPL is also able to display a progressive scan image which a lot of the earlier models don’t.
Setting up the unit is very straightforward, as I find with most Sony appliances the instruction manual offers detailed step-by-step instruction on wall mounting etc. so you really shouldn’t experience any difficulty even if you...

Advantages: High Brightness, 3LCD Projection System, AIAS (Advanced Intelligent Auto Setup), Short Focal Length Disadvantages: Abit Noisy
...The SonyVPL CX21 is a bright, slim, and stylish projector designed for mobile applications. A friend of mine has this and we always watch movies on it. The projector has many features which I've written about below with brief explanation of each feature:
- High Brightness of 2100 ANSI Lumens
The projector has three Sony 0.63-inch LCD panels and a latest designed 165 W lamp, it has a brightness of 2100 ANSI lumens, which provides amazing image quality even in very high ambient-light. The projector has a resolution of XGA (1024 x 768), this simply means fine display of even the smallest details.
- 3LCD Projection System
This is what the Sony projector is all about, it has a 3LCD projection system which means the projected images are bright and natural and for this to be achieved it has 3 LCD panels. It provides high light...
