"Getting Started"
On the whole, I found this easy. The player comes preloaded with four music tracks and you can even set music to be automatically transferred from your computer to the Walkman. It comes with software - but to be honest I haven't felt the need to install it as I found transferring media to the player can be done quite easily without it. However, one very important fact I feel you must know is that the Walkman is "not" compatible with many formats of video files. It simply will not play most formats such as .wmv. The use of video format converting software is a must. The format I have found that it generally has no problem with is MP4, Mpeg4, AAC LC, 320:240 resolution and frame rate 30/second. I have [fortunately] had no problems regarding compatibility with either audio or picture files.
"Everyday Use"
The user interface is one of its best features in my opinion and makes its everyday use a joy. On the home screen are nine icons: Shuffle, Search, Clock, Photo Library, Music Library, Video Library, Settings, Playlists, Now Playing. These give you instant access to your favourite music tracks/pictures/videos plus a host of loads of other great features including picture slideshows and an equalizer. The premium quality headphones included gave, in my opinion, superb sound quality and I found them comfortable to wear. I also felt that the player had a good range of volume levels - I was able to get it as loud or as quiet as I wanted. Once fully charged the internal battery lasted many hours which was a great bonus on long journeys without access to a computer (for example on a plane). Another of the Walkmans features I found very handy was the 'Hold' button which locks the keypad when in your pocket for example. However, an important fact I feel you should be aware of is the Players' incompatibility with recharger mains/USB adaptors not specifically designed for the player by Sony. This is the second Sony MP3 player that I have used and must say that these new Sony players have come on leaps and bounds. The player itself is very small and light and will fit in any pocket. One of the best features is that unlike older Sony players and other brands this modle does not require software to load your music to the player, however it is an option. If you are like me and just want to dump your music on the player and then shoot out ... ...that it is expensive for the memory capacity you get. Overall this Sony MP3 player is very good quality, rather stylish, has great sound quality and it is easy to add your music files. I use mine just for when I`m out running as its smaller that my ipod. ...

Advantages: sound quality, video quality, appearance, value for money, ease of use. Disadvantages: Doesn't support a great amount of formats for playback.
Great little player, excellent sound quality (due to a combination of great supplied earphones and the output of the player), crisp, clear video viewing and a very nice layout of buttons. I own the black version of the player, which looks great. The player has a metal casing, making it strong and durable (I have dropped it several times, and it shows no marks or chips). The screen is is said to be scratch resistant, and that holds true up until now. ... ...reflective, making viewing it a tad difficult in very bright conditions. The highlight of this product is the sound quality, crisp, clean and with good levels of bass. The player also has a great equaliser so you can choose sound to suit you, and many other settings such as "clear bass" and "dynamic normalizer" to further enhance sound quality. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a great mp3/mp4 player to easily rival Ipod. ...
