The design of the walkman is (for a lack of a better word) perfect. It is sleek and shiny, the buttons are easy to press and are the right size, and the functionality is what you would expect from an MP3 player.
I personally have 1200 songs on my MP3 player, and have enough room left on the hard drive to transport work to and from college on it. The box set comes with a USB cable (that goes everywhere with me along with the mp3 player) to plug it into the computer, an adapter so you can charge it via a normal power socket, headphones with a short while and a long headphone extension cable. The box set is neatly packed and well presented.
As much as I love the NW-A1000, I do have a few problems with it. Firstly, the price is asking a lot for just a 6 GB MP3 player. I recommend trying to buy it second hand, or waiting until the product is cheaper. I paid around £140 for it, i've seen it cheaper than that, and more expensive. Also, there are long loading times for the menu and between songs. I look at a loading screen for around 7 seconds until I see a list of songs on the album, then another 3 seconds until I see a list of all the albums by the artist, but this is when the music is playing. My final problem is the fact that it gets dirty and scratched so easily, but this could me just being clumsy. These little problems do not put me off the MP3 player though, as I suspect many devices have this problem too.
If you are into really stable, good looking MP3 players with good battery life, you can't do much better than the NW-A1000. There are several other items you can buy to expand the functionality of this device (speakers etc) but on its own it has served me well for around a year now.
