I recently got given this product as a christmas present. What attracted me to this product was the attractive pink (in my case) and silver design. It comes in a range of colours from pink, violet, black, silver and green.
The Sony Walkman is small and compact, weighing as little as 25g and no bigger than 3inchs in length, and about 1cm in depth. It has an attractive coloured plastic covering the software inside. The MP3 player connects directly into your computers USB port by removing the silver plastic covering at the end of the player. It has a small LCD screen which displays the name of the song, the artist or the name of the album but not all this information is displayed at one time. You have to press the menu button to see the rest of the information.
The battery is rechargeable and 3 minutes of recharging is the equivalent of 3 hours playback. With a fully charged battery lasting up to 28hours. Fully charged battery takes about 2 hours from completely dead.
The Sony Walkman comes with it's own Sony headphones which are useful because they are fairly long in wire meaning I can keep my MP3 player in my bag while I walk. It also comes with it's only Sony software that uploads the songs onto your player. This is simple to install and use and I have not experienced any problems using this software. For some however this may be regarded as a downside to the MP3 player as many will be reluctant to install yet more software onto there computers. However, if purchasing this MP3 player you have no other choice.
The most annoying thing for me is the LCD screen when I am walking and listening to my MP3 player I cannot read the screen in sunlight and of course outside and during the day is when I use this product the most!! It means that the screen becomes useless which is a huge disappointment. I also find that the MP3 player doesn't go loud enough but this could be down to personal preference as I enough my music loud especially when walking along busy road where I like to have the noise drowned out.
This series of MP3 player also has a range of accessories out to accompany your player, of course at an extra cost. And to my surprise have found this accessories hard to find in any local shop. They include; a clip which attaches to your MP3 player and then can be attached to you. This is about £12.00. Also avaliable is a sports armband for around £20. Which I found extremely useful as a gym-goer. You can also get a protective covering made of silicone for around £14. However for a more protective casing Sony brought out a splash proof cover which is made of clear plastic. You can also get colour cordinated earphones to match the colour of the MP3 player.
For someone who thinks a ipod is a waste of money this is a good choice of Mp3 player and I am very happy with my choice of product.
